 Lewes Bonfire – A Tradition of Sussex

Come rain or shine, this long-running event takes place in the streets of Lewes every November 5 and is one of the most famous Bonfire celebrations in the world.

Starting proceedings from late afternoon, Lewes is famous for its large numbers of local societies forming a procession through the town, along with its iconic effigies, many of which are based on political characters and public figures. With the partying normally heading into the early hours, it’s not one for the kids, but it truly is a night to remember.

Be wary though – you need to be up and into the town on the day as it gets full pretty quickly! Find out more at: www.lewesbonfirecelebrations.com
