The Rude Mechanical Theatre Company

Don’t miss great theatre at Helen Gardens, Eastbourne, in a beautiful circus tent. Wednesday 9th to Sunday 13th August. This brand-new comedy, Miss Popplewell’s Garden, is set in the fictitious Sussex village of Little Inkling in April 1940. Panic ensues. There’s an intruder in the village! Is it the gypsies? Maybe an escaped convict or foreign agent? They’re British, however. They’ll rise to it! But will Jocasta, Daphne and Dotty get Miss Popplewell’s strawberries? Will their kindly headmistress, Miss Tricklebank, confine them to their dorms? Will Daphne be kissed before she’s seventeen? The Street, Arlington, Polegate, BN26 6RX yewtreeinnarlington@icloud.com www.yewtree-inn.co.uk

The Story of The Bell stretches back to around 1560 when it was a rather showy Tudor building. Now lovingly restored, the gorgeous 16th century inn is set in the heart of Ticehurst.

The ambience at The Bell is distinctly laid back, a little bit quirky and definitely not run of the mill. Menus change with the seasons, with a strong focus on local provenance. Classic British dishes with a French twist, using only the finest, locally sourced ingredients. www.thebellinticehurst.com

The Bell has 11 beautifully distinctive bedrooms - choose from seven rooms over the pub, each with its own silver birch tree. Some have deep copper baths for long luxurious soaks, and all have sinfully comfortable beds.
