David’s Welcome

Host Coaching is a foundation for

Success!

Congratulations on continuing your excellent Host Coaching. We all know that Host Coaching is the foundation for a successful Cooking Party, more so in the current slightly uncertain environment. We can see that you are getting your Hosts excited as Cooking Party average sales are running at more than $930 – this is the best measure of Host Coaching. Your Hosts’ enthusiasm is keeping the average customer spend high and, more importantly, getting more guests to attend Cooking Parties to experience you and The Chefs Toolbox. More guests leads to all 3Ms. More Sales is a natural outcome, as is More Bookings (particularly when each booking in May gives Hosts $100 worth of free product). Every extra guest is also introducing another person to The Chefs Toolbox income. As we, Avon, Tupperware and many other companies are seeing, the gloomy headlines are opening more people up to the positive and profitable party plan industry. All you need to do is ‘Just Ask!’ your Hosts if they’d like an extra $200 in free product and your customers if they know anyone who is looking for a way to earn an extra $200-300 in 3 hours. With our current promotion of a $75 monthly bonus, if you ‘Just Ask!’ three people you could earn an extra $900 by September. What would you do with an extra $900? That buys a lot of pampering...

Bon appetit,

P.S - I hope you all get spoilt on Mother’s Day!

Fundraiser at The Chefs Toolbox! On Thursday 2 April 2009, The Chefs Toolbox Head Office held their first official Fundraiser Group Event! The fundraiser came together quite quickly, the donations started coming through and seats were booked out within a week. It was a fun night, with plenty of laughs! Phillipa Pickette and Sharon McWilliams were our stars of the night along with the “A Team (Aimee Brown & Amie Herring) by their sides to assist them with the cooking demonstration, games and prizes.

Phillipa Pickette, Sharon McWilliams and Amie Herring.

The fundraiser was a complete success, with over 55 people attending and a total of $5022 raised for a good cause! A special thank-you goes out to Phillipa Pickette, Sharon McWilliams, Aimee Brown and Amie Herring for their dedication and support.

Tales from the Toolbox

Tales from the Toolbox It’s all about Asking! Belinda Hooper and her family have just recently moved to Mt Gambier. Belinda has been very focused on ‘Asking’ customers to join the Chefs Toolbox after attending Taste of the Toolbox on the Gold Coast. Belinda took the time to promote her business in the area by creating a creative double-sided postcard with her personal information one side and on the other side she mentions the benefits of the being a Chefs Toolbox Consultant and hosting Cooking Parties. Belinda spoke with her nail lady about the business opportunity and had a face to face with her the very next day. Her prospect is very keen and is likely to join. Belinda has also had a great month with her Cooking Parties and also focusing on ‘Asking’ for referrals from those who are not interested themselves. It’s all about asking, way to go Belinda! Josie Campese, Manager VIC

Great Start Rachael! What a great start Rachael Broster has had to her business. Her first three Cooking Parties have averaged around $1100 in sales and Rachael has picked up seven bookings from those three Cooking Parties alone, three from one Party and two each from the others. Keep up the great work Rachael! Rhonda Ross, Team Leader VIC

Kristin McClurg is kicking goals in her first 2 months with The Chefs Toolbox! Kristin McClurg joined The Chefs Toolbox only a couple of months ago and last month recruited a new team member Di Heath from a very successful Cooking Party, 3 Bookings, 1 Host Referral Reward. The Host was over the moon with her Host Referral Reward 2000 ChefsClub points for the referral. Di also had a fantastic result from her first Cooking Party with 5 Bookings – well done. A big congratulations to their Team Leader Amanda Sparks, who has supported both of her new team members all the way. Josie Campese, Manager VIC

Janet Smith has been working wonders! Janet had two Cooking Parties one recent weekend, one had fourteen attending and Janet already had 2 bookings from this and $218.00 of orders before starting! Well done Janet, excellent Host Coaching! Sprinkle May 2009

Consultant Corner

Consultant Corner

Melissa Spencer White

Hello everyone, I love promoting and selling The Chefs Toolbox products. I have lots of FUN and earn a great income at the same time, it’s actually hard to call it work! My background in hospitality was always going to be an advantage, as I entered a new phase of my life. I was utilising my catering skills in a small country town hotel, before getting married and having two wonderful boys. We later sold the hotel, and decided to move further west to a small farming community at Springdale. As the boys were now old enough to attend school, I had the urge to get back into the workforce. I then attended a Chefs Toolbox Cooking Party in Cootamundra, where I met Susie Pennington, my now Team Leader. Later, I was again fortunate to meet up with another of my Chefs Toolbox mentors, Phillipa Pickette, with whom I have developed a strong personal and business relationship. The wealth of support I have received from The Chefs Toolbox has helped me develop as a Consultant. My newfound profession has seen me travel far and wide. Many of my customers have felt the burden of devastating years of drought; however I have always been welcomed with enthusiasm and kindness. I see The Chefs Toolbox Cooking Parties as a great outlet for the women of these communities, as they are given the opportunity to meet, greet, party and shop. What else could you possibly ask for? I thoroughly enjoy owning and running my own sucesfull Chefs Toolbox business, although I must admit I was a little overwhelmed when I was asked if I had a computer to place my orders. Do I need to have computer skills I wondered? My husband is very impressed with me as I can now confidently find my way around a PC. My business skills have blossomed and I continue to enjoy what I am doing! The highlight of my experience with The Chefs Toolbox took place only recently at the Taste of the Toolbox Gala Awards dinner on the Gold Coast (what a glamorous evening). The Elite 25 Achievers were announced and I was one of them. Being recognised in front of my peers for my achievements, amongst the many talented Consultants, was something special. I continue to feel inspired and grateful to be part of such a successful and supportive company. My financial independence has always been important to me. The Chefs Toolbox has given me this opportunity. I will always be grateful for the enormous support I have received from Susie, Phillipa and all of my Chefs Toolbox colleagues.

Biz Chat

Let’s make it simple to- “Just ask” If you read last month’s Biz Chat, you may remember me recommending that you read through the Order Taking section of your manual under Cooking Party structure. WHY? Because that’s the section where you learn to comfortably “ASK” customers to Host their own Cooking Party or “ASK” customers to consider the business opportunity. It’s the part of the Cooking Party, where you spend one on one time with all your customers to help them assess their needs. You definitely do not wait until customers come to you; this is your business, take control. My question to you is “Do you ask people to Host their own Cooking Party or maybe consider the business”? If not, I am certain your business may not be heading in the direction you originally wanted it to. How are your communication skills? 

Do you talk too much and forget to LISTEN? How are you supposed to get to know people if you are doing all the talking?

Did you ask open-ended questions and listen for the answers? Closed-ended questions give you no information on what customers want or need.

Did you include all your customers in the cooking segment? The ones that are not included may feel a little left out and also they will not have the experience of “try before you buy”.

Did you remember the names of all your customers? It’s my number one tip on building a good rapport with customers.

Did your customers have FUN? If so, “Asking” for bookings and recruits will be a breeze.

To make your order taking process simple and non-threatening try the below spiel. During your ‘Close of Sale’ mention the following “Ladies, that just about wraps up Susie’s Cooking Party (use Hosts name) here are your folders, have a look through them, & I will be back to show you your pizza coming out of the pan and then I am all yours to help you with your orders”. Here you are letting your customers know that you will be back and they will be expecting you to approach them. It makes the order taking process much more relaxing when you give your customers a heads-up.

Biz Chat

continued... Customers are eating, chatting about the party, the products, so now is the perfect time to approach your customers and “Ask” questions so a conversation can take place around the 3Ms. You cannot go up to someone and say Nadine, how about you Host a Cooking Party for me? Or “Stephanie, how about you become a Chefs Toolbox Consultant?” Now that’s what I call pushy and as a customer I would say “NO”. However, if you approached me with a smile and a question of interest I would definitely give you the time of day. Listen throughout the Cooking Party for clues and ideas to start a conversation.

1. Jean, have you ever thought about doing what I did tonight? (stop talking) 2. Jake, what did you think of the Cooking Party? (stop talking) 3.

Sally, you seemed excited about the Sauté Pan when you discovered it can be used on induction stoves. (stop talking)

4. Mary, can I help you with your order, you look a little confused. (stop talking)

7.

Sue, I over heard you saying you used to do Party Plan many years ago, did you enjoy running your own business? (stop talking)

8.

Trish, did you decide on what you wanted, the Sauté Pan or the Frypan, or maybe you would like them both for half price or FREE? (stop talking)

5.

Catherine, you mentioned earlier that you were after a good Wok, would you like me to tell you more about ours? (stop talking)

Place your focus on building strong relationships with your customers throughout your Cooking Parties and the order taking process will be simple and profitable for you, and it becomes easy to Just Ask!

6.

Susan, thanks for your food tips, I learnt a lot from you tonight, did you enjoy the Cooking Party? (stop talking)

Adelaide Food Fair Adelaide Food Wine & Cooking Show is a premium event and was held at the Royal Adelaide Showground during 24 – 26 April. We were able to speak to hundreds of visitors who were all very interested in our fabulous products, Cooking Party concept and the business as a whole. This was an amazing brand awareness event as most visitors had not heard of The Chefs Toolbox. Sara did a fabulous job of organising our stand at the event, securing a prime location only 50 metres from the demonstration stage, where Fast Ed from Better Homes and Gardens whipped up fabulous dishes in front of a very happy crowd. We received hundreds of eAT entry forms, over 30 leads for Cooking Parties and Fundraising events and nearly 10 hot recruiting leads! Adelaide is very passionate about food and I was impressed with how enthusiastic all stall holders are about their product, willing to help and support each other. Huge thanks to Sara, Maria, (her sister Rita), Janet, and Leah who made this event such a success. Phillipa Pickette, Manager NSW

WHATS NEW!

NEW END OF MONTH CUT-OFF DEADLINE From May onwards, the deadline to process your orders for your monthly BV total will be 6.00pm AEST on the last day of the month. Deadline = 31 May 2009 – 6.00pm AEST (Sydney time) (Tip: if you have Cooking Parties scheduled on 31 May in the evening, you should count this anticipated BV for the June month, not May.)

Web Sale Tips for your Customers Congratulations – your customers have once again shown their love for all things Chefs Toolbox by making a huge success of the Mother’s Day Web Sale. It just goes to show how you’ve helped convert thousands of Aussies (and Kiwis) to the joys of cooking and serving their meals with good-quality kitchen must-haves! And by collecting their email addresses, you’ve helped boost your own web profits and to continue to spread word of mouth with eAT and web sale promotions. A quick tip for those of you who do web sale transactions on behalf of your customers who may not be very web-savvy or computer-literate – using the “Back” button on your Web Browser is a big no-no for Internet-based transactions. When ever you are purchasing online, you should finalise the purchase, and then close down your Web Browser (eg. Internet Explorer.). This clears all the order-related data from your PC’s temporary memory. If you need to enter a second purchase, start up your browser again, and start a fresh transaction. If you use the “Back” button on Web Sale transactions, you may create errors on the invoice from the sale, which causes delays and delivery errors at The Chefs Toolbox Head Office. This tip also applies for entering Cooking Party and Consultant Orders online – never use the “Back” button.

Recruiting Recipe Cards! Our range of cards promoting the fantastic income opportunity at The Chefs Toolbox are available in glossy full colour, in packs of 50 for only $5.00. Designed for Group Meetings, they are now also available to use at Cooking Parties and to hand out when you ‘Just ASK’. They are the perfect size to take along to the supermarket or school! Best of all, the yummy recipes on the front will mean people will keep them and show them around. The codes are 20364 – Recruit - Vegetable Biriani (pkt 50) 20365 – Recruit - Frittata (pkt 50) 20366 – Recruit - Sticky Date Pudding (pkt 50)

Pretend that you have just opended a Dress Shop...

 Would you open the door of your dress shop every day from 9 - 5? Or just when you were in the mood?  Would you tell everyone you were in the dress business and invite them to your store, because you are so excited and love your dresses? Or would you be shy about asking them to drop by for fear they would think you were being pushy?  Would you keep up with the stock in your store and make sure you had plenty of dresses on the racks? Or would you spend the money as fast as you made it and let your stock get low? Empty racks, nothing to browse through?  Would you keep your books up–to-date so you could tell how your business was progressing? Or would you let it go and just guess at how you were doing?

 Would you attend fashion shows, trade shows and all training available to make sure you were up on the latest fashions and trends that would make your business more profitable? Or would you decide you knew everything there was to know and that it wouldn’t be worth it to further your business knowledge.  Would you treat your new Dress Shop as a business and be proud of the commitment you are making to better your life and spoil all your clients? Absolutely! Celebrate and enjoy the journey!

Note from Julie... Do you think opening a dress shop is different to starting a business with The Chefs

Toolbox? With both you need to make sure you put passion, dedication, fun and some structured goals and action plans into place. Your success is entirely up to you!

However, there’s no need for a form, just send us an email to HERbookings@chefstoolbox.com.au. with the following information, to claim 1,000 points when you have processed a booking: (PLEASE FOLLOW THE FORMAT BELOW FOR EACH EMAIL, TO AVOID PROCESSING DELAYS!) Your full name and Consultant ID: Original Cooking Party ID #: Original Host Name: Follow-on Booking Cooking Party ID#: Follow-on Booking Cooking Party Host Name: Notes: let us know if you have had to change to Host Name or Cooking Party Date for this booking. Once we receive the email, we will verify that you have closed the Party order online, that the sales of this Party exceeded $500 RRP value, and we will then assign the points to your original Host.
