A new year is upon us, and the City of Surprise Parks and Recreation Department is here to help you meet your goals. Whether it is trying something new, meeting new people or challenging yourself, our Team is working hard to bring you opportunities to be your best self. From events, sports leagues to youth programming we have something your family can enjoy. Join us on Saturday, April 16th for the popular event Spring Eggstravaganza. Activities include Mr. and Mrs. Bunny and Egg Hunts, Face Painters and Clowns. Gates open at 7:30 am on the Kansas City Royals Practice Fields. We also return with our Sunday in the Park series with dates planned for January 23rd, February 6th, and April 3rd. Don’t forget about Spring Training! We will see you at Surprise Stadium starting Saturday, February 26th! Recreation programming continues with a full slate of fun opportunities for the family including both our Youth & Adults Sports Leagues, Classes, Camps, and Esports. The Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex is also set for a Winter and Spring filled with Tennis, Racquetball, and Pickleball opportunities for the whole family! And, is it me, or does our Special Interest Class catalog just seem to get bigger? With offerings in Martial Arts, Dance, Gymnastics, Tumbling, and more, there is a class for everyone!

Teen programming is one of our focuses this year, and we have a variety of services for the youth such as Surprise Youth Council, volunteer opportunities, and a literacy challenge. Events include WeCare Sustainable Fashion Show, as well as the “Unity in the Community”, an event that celebrates diversity in our community.
We are also proud to announce that our Adaptive Program brought home an Outstanding Program Award at the 2021 Arizona Parks & Recreation Association conference for their efforts in the Adaptive Virtual Bingo!
In closing, our Parks and Recreation Staff and I want to thank you for your continued support and we wish nothing but the best for you and your family.
The Mission of the City of Surprise Parks & Recreation Department is to enrich and complement the lives of Surprise residents through stewardship of our resources while providing responsive programs which promote and prioritize diversity, cultural, neighborhood, family, education, recreation and wellness opportunities.
