ADVERTORIAL FOR TELSTRA COMMUNITY NEWS FOR GEELONG

Telstra joins K Rock to get involved with Surf Coast community BY JODI MANION

Telstra has joined local radio station, K Rock, for its Wave Runner promotion to get involved in the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast communities. Every Friday, Telstra staff have been joining the K Rock Wave Runner promotional team to hand out plenty of giveaways and to participate in competitions such as beach cricket, tennis and creative sandcastle making. So far we have visited beaches at Ocean Grove, Portarlington and Lorne. “Telstra’s support of K Rock’s Wave Runners over summer was pivotal to the success of the campaign,” said K Rock General Manager, Mr Dean Anglin. “We were able to get out into the community, visiting different beaches every day with giveaways and fun for the summer” he added. Telstra is also working with K Rock and the region’s Surf Life Saving Clubs to generate much needed funds as part of Telstra’s ‘Answer the Call’ campaign. Telstra has been supporting Surf Life Saving Clubs locally for the past six years, during which time in excess of $90,000 has been distributed amongst the local clubs. We encourage our residents to help our volunteers answer the call.

Geelong and Surf Coast residents can assist their local Surf Life Saving Club by connecting to an eligible Next G™ Mobile Phone plan or BigPond® Broadband service at a local participating store and mentioning the ‘Answer the Call’ offer. Telstra will then contribute $30 to the participating local Surf Life Saving Club nominated by the customer. The clubs can allocate the funds generated as part of the campaign towards purchasing vital rescue equipment to keep our families and surfers safe on the beach. The beach is a major part of our lifestyle in the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast area, so it’s important to support the

volunteers who keep it safe for our families to enjoy and to ensure that they can purchase the best, most modern surf life saving equipment available. Geelong and Surf Coast residents can visit their local T-LIFE™ store or participating Telstra stores to contribute to the ‘Answer the Call’ campaign.

That is what’s happening in your local community. Watch out for updates on Telstra’s community efforts on a regular basis. TCW0070/SCTBT
