ABOUT THE PROJECT
DESPRE PROIECT
Information/Informații Arts Lab 1.0 is a volunteering project, attended by four volunteers, aged between 18 and 30. These are young people passionate about arts, who have organized activities in both urban and rural areas. Arts Lab 1.0 este un proiect de activitate de voluntariat, la care au participat patru voluntari, cu vârste cuprinse între 18 și 30 de ani. Aceștia sunt tineri pasionaţi de arte, ce au organizat activităţi atât în mediul urban, cât și în cel rural. Arts Lab took place twice in the city of Târgu Frumos, Iași County, Romania.
Arts Lab a avut loc de două ori în orașul Târgu Frumos, judeţul Iași, Romania.
Arts Lab 1.0 ran from April 1 to December 31, 2019, and brought together four volunteers from Belgium, France, Italy, and Spain (Mexico). Arts Lab 2.0 was held from February 1 to October 31, 2020, and brought together four volunteers from Spain (South Korea & Peru), Italy, and Turkey.
Arts Lab 1.0 s-a desfășurat începând cu 1 aprilie până pe 31 decembrie 2019 și a reunit patru voluntari din Belgia, Franţa, Italia și Spania (Mexic). Arts Lab 2.0 a fost realizat de pe 1 februarie până pe 31 octombrie 2020, și a adunat patru voluntari din Spania (Coreea de Sud & Peru), Italia și Turcia.
The topics of the project are social inclusion, cultural heritage, creativity, and culture.
Subiectele proiectului sunt incluziunea socială, patrimoniul cultural, creativitatea și cultura.
The objectives of the project are: to personally and professionally develop the four international volunteers; to promote volunteering and the Erasmus Plus program in schools and high schools in the North East region; to increase access to artistic activities for personal development and volunteering of children and young people with fewer opportunities.
Obiectivele proiectului sunt: de a dezvolta personal și profesional cei patru voluntari internaţionali; de a promova voluntariatului și programul Erasmus Plus în școli și licee din regiunea nordest; de a crește accesul la activităţi artistice de dezvoltare personală și voluntariat a copiilor și tinerilor cu oportunităţi reduse.

The aim of the project is to involve young people with fewer opportunities in artistic volunteer activities and non-formal education. Scopul proiectului este de a implica tinerii cu mai puţine oportunităţi în activităţi artistice de voluntariat și educaţie nonformală.
Information/Informații
Arts Lab I was an European Voluntary Service (EVS) Erasmus. This is a program for young people, that povides them an experience which allows them to improve various competences such as public speaking, teamwork and organizing skills. Arts Lab I a fost un Serviciu European de Voluntariat Erasmus. Acesta este un program pentru tineri, ce le oferă o experienţă prin care își pot dezvolta numeroase competenţe precum vorbitul în public, lucru în echipă și abilităţi de organizare.
Arts Lab II was an European Solidary Corps (ESC) project. This is the new European Union initiative which creates opportunities for young people to volunteer or work in projects in their own country or abroad. Arts Lab II a fost un proiect în cadrul programului Corpul European de Solidaritate. Acesta este noua inițiativă a Uniunii Europene care le oferă tinerilor șansa de a face voluntariat sau de a se implica în proiecte în propria țară sau în străinătate.

Arts Lab I
SANDRO PILIU Sandro is an artist from Sardinia, Italy whose passion is drawing. He managed to transform this passion into a job, working now with people for creating and making them personalized tattoos. He also likes martial arts, cooking, hiking, kayak canoe, music, and loves walking in the forest to observe nature. During the Arts Lab project, Sandro facilitated the drawing lab in more than 12 communities with youngsters of different ages.
EBET NATHANEL BAUTISTA Ebet, with Spanish residence, comes from Mexico, where from a young age she discovered her passion for dance. She knows how to dance ballet, contemporary dance, traditional dances, and many more. She really liked the Romanian dances and traditions. That's why she is thinking to come back to Romania one day. During the Arts Lab project, Ebet facilitated the dancing lab in more than 17 communities with youngsters of different ages.

Arts Lab I SABIEN CEUPPENS Sabien comes from Belgium and her passion is crafting. She really likes to work manually and to try her best to create beautiful things. She spent four months in Romania, during which time she taught the participants of her workshop how to create their own mini magazines, how to build a miniature house and how to make ceramic figurines. During the Arts Lab project, Sabien facilitated the crafting lab for more than 200 youngsters of different ages.
VALENTIN DENIS Valentin came from Reunion, France and during his volunteering program, he did various workshops. The most appreciated ones were the Music Lab, Digital Lab, and Chess Club. But he also did workshops about photography and a workshop called Iron Mind where the participants learned about manipulation, negotiation, and body language. During the Arts Lab project, Valentin facilitated workshops in more than 17 communities with youngsters of different ages.

Arts Lab II HANUL CHOI Hanul was born in Madrid, Spain, but his roots are in South Korea. He has a film degree, that's why he likes to capture moments in videos.
He facilitated workshops about storytelling, improvisation, how to create scenarios for movies, and acting. Hanul also showed the participants tricks for recording videos, such as slow-motion and time-lapse. During the Arts Lab project, Hanul facilitated workshops in more than 5 communities with youngsters of different ages.
DENIZ ATAMAN Deniz comes from Turkey and her passion is working with ceramics. Since she was a kid she was afraid of losing memories, that's why she decided to reconstruct them with the help of ceramic. The participants of her workshop learned how to create cups, fruits, animals, medallions, jewelry, and many more objects. During the Arts Lab project, Deniz facilitated workshops in more than 5 communities with youngsters of different ages.

Arts Lab II OMAR FRANCO Omar, a resident of Spain, comes from Peru and he is passionate about music. He discovered music by the cassettes of Michael Jackson and the Beatles. When he started to travel, he learned how to play the guitar and joined a symphony orchestra. He facilitated the Music Lab, where the participants learned how to play the guitar and they learned more about the sounds. During the Arts Lab project, Omar facilitated workshops in more than 5 communities with youngsters of different ages.
ELIANA COLZANI Eliana comes from Italy and she really loves to travel. On her trips, she likes to take with her the sketchbook and her camera in order to immortalize the moments. Her workshop was the Photography Lab, where she was sharing techniques and tricks for good photos. She was also teaching people how to create jewelry from copper. During the Arts Lab project, Eliana facilitated workshops in more than 5 communities with youngsters of different ages.

Crafting Lab Laboratorul de lucru manual Crafting Lab was facilitated by Sabien, a volunteer from Belgium. During 74 days she taught more than 100 participants the secrets of manual labor. The participants of her workshops admitted that they acquired useful knowledge and that they developed a lot of their creativity. Laboratorul de lucru manual a fost facilitat de Sabien, voluntara din Belgia. Pe parcursul a 74 zile a învățat peste 100 de participanți secretele muncii manuale. Participanții atelierelor sale au recunoscut că au dobândit cunoștințe utile și că și-au putut da frâu liber creativității.

Drawing Lab Laboratorul de desen Drawing Lab was facilitated by Sandro, the volunteer from Sardinia. During his stay, he created a painting exhibition about Cucuteni culture and did street art in the area of our youth center. The participants attending his activities learned different drawing techniques and how to combine the colors. Laboratorul de desen a fost facilitat de Sandro, voluntarul din Sardinia. În timpul șederii sale, a creat o expoziție de pictură despre cultura Cucuteni și a făcut artă stradală în zona centrului nostru de tineret. Participanții care au participat la activitățile sale au învățat diferite tehnici de desen și cum să combine culori.

Dance Lab Laboratorul de dans Dance Lab was facilitated by Ebet, a volunteer from Spain, originally from Mexico. She stayed in Romania for nine months, during which time she taught the participants of her workshops small work outs and dances such as ballet, traditional dances, bachata and contemporan dance. Ebet also created dances for the songs that the participants usually listen to. Laboratorul de dans a fost facilitat de Ebet, voluntara din Spania, originară din Mexic. Ea a stat în România timp de nouă luni, timp în care i-a învățat pe participanții atelierelor sale mici exerciții și dansuri precum balet, bachata, dansuri tradiționale și dans contemporan. De asemenea, Ebet a creat dansuri pentru melodiile pe care participanții le ascultă în mod obișnuit.

Music Lab Laboratorul de muzică Music Lab was facilitated by Valentin, a volunteer from France. Valentin spent nine months in Romania, during which time he introduced the local volunteers in the music world. The participants attending his activities learned how to read the musical notes and chords, how to play guitar, and how to synchronize. Laboratorul de muzică a fost facilitat de Valentin, voluntarul din Franța. Valentin a petrecut nouă luni în România, timp în care a introdus voluntarii locali în lumea muzicii. Participanții activităților sale au învățat cum să citească notele și acordurile muzicale, cum să cânte la chitară și cum să se sincronizeze.

Chess Club Clubul de șah Valentin facilitated also the chess club, where the participants that attended his activity, learned the strategies and tactics champions use to make their games an unique moment. Valentin a facilitat și clubul de șah, unde participanții care au participat la activitatea sa, au învățat strategiile și tacticile pe care campionii le folosesc pentru a face din jocurile lor un moment unic.

Photography Lab Laboratorul de fotografie Photography Lab was facilitated by Eliana, the volunteer from Italy. Through her activities she taught the participants of her workshops tehniques and tricks for quality photos. Also, she created with the local volunteers jewelry from copper that they valosrised afterwards through photos. Laboratorul de fotografie a fost facilitat de Eliana, voluntara din Italia. Prin activitățile sale a învățat participanții atelierelor sale tehnici și trucuri pentru fotografii de calitate. De asemenea, ea a creat împreună cu voluntarii locali bijuterii din cupru pe care le-au valorificat ulterior prin fotografii.

Film and Acting Lab Laboratorul de film și actorie Film and Acting Lab was facilitated by Hanul, a volunteer from Spain, originally from South Korea. Ceramics Lab Laboratorul de ceramică Ceramics Lab was facilitated by Deniz, the volunteer from Turkey. The participants of her workshop learned how to create cups, fruits, animals, medallions, jewelry and many more objects. All the the things that they realised during the activities, are exposed in the studio that Deniz created with the help of the local volunteers. Laboratorul de ceramică a fost facilitat de Deniz, voluntara din Turcia. Participanții atelierului său au învățat cum să creeze cupe, fructe, animale, medalioane, bijuterii și multe alte obiecte. Toate lucrurile pe care le-au realizat în timpul activităților sunt expuse în atelierul creat de Deniz cu ajutorul voluntarilor locali.

Music Lab Laboratorul de muzică Music Lab was facilitated by Omar, a Spanish volunteer, coming from Peru. Omar showed to the participants the importance of sounds, taught them how to play the guitar and they experienced the process of creating songs. Together with the local volunteers, he recorded several songs about Romania, Târgu Frumos, and volunteering. Laboratorul de muzică a fost facilitat de Omar, voluntarul spaniol originar din Peru. Omar le-a arătat participanților importanța sunetelor, i-a învățat cum să cânte la chitară, iar ei au experimentat procesul de creare a melodiilor. Împreună cu voluntarii locali, el a înregistrat câteva melodii despre România, Târgu Frumos și voluntariat.

Intercultural nights Seri interculturale During their stay in Romania, the volunteers realized lots of workshops about different types of art. Besides these, each volunteer organized an intercultural night about their own country. The participants of these events found out information about Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Peru, South Korea, and Turkey. The intercultural nights consisted of interesting facts about the countries such as the beautiful places, the culture, currency, history, geography, and traditions. Also, people who attended the events could taste traditional food and they experienced traditional dances and games.
În timpul șederii lor în România, voluntarii au realizat o mulțime de ateliere despre diferite tipuri de artă. Pe lângă acestea, fiecare voluntar a organizat o seară interculturală despre propria țară. Participanții la aceste evenimente au aflat informații despre Belgia, Franța, Spania, Italia, Mexic, Peru, Coreea de Sud și Turcia. Serile interculturale au constat în lucruri interesante despre țări, cum ar fi locurile frumoase, cultura, moneda, istoria, geografia și tradițiile. De asemenea, tinerii care au participat la evenimente au putut gusta mâncăruri tradiționale și au experimentat dansuri și jocuri tradiționale.

About the caravan Despre caravană The Arts Lab Caravan is an activity within the Arts Lab project, that took place in over 17 communities, with the aim of promoting the project, the Erasmus+ program, volunteering and non-formal education. During the Arts Lab Caravan, international volunteers presented their experiences gained throughout the project through various non-formal methods. They organized workshops on topics such as dance, photography, film and acting, music, fine arts, and ceramics.
Caravana Arts Lab este o activitate în cadrul proiectului Arts Lab, ce s-a desfășurat în peste 17 comunități, având ca scop promovarea proiectului, a programului Erasmus+, a voluntariatului și educației non-formale. În cadrul Caravanei Arts Lab, voluntarii internaționali și-au prezentat experiențele dobândite de-a lungul proiectului prin diverse metode nonformale. Aceștia au organizat ateliere având teme precum dans, fotografie, film și actorie, muzică, arte plastice și ceramică.

EVENIMENTUL FINAL AL PROIECTULUI ARTS LAB I
About the event Despre eveniment After 9 months of international volunteering in Super Tineri organisation, Arts Lab team together with our 2 Erasmus+ interns and our ex-long-term volunteer, organized a final event to present their workshops hosted in "Ion Creangă" School. The event involved more than 60 youth and parents, and there were two ballet and one contemporary performances, a photo exhibition about Târgu Frumos, a chess contest, the children played a Mexican traditional game, an image theater performance, an archaeological exhibition about Cucuteni culture and one basketball match between "Ion Creangă" and "Garabet Ibrăileanu" students.
După 9 luni de voluntariat internațional în organizația Super Tineri, echipa Arts Lab împreună cu cei 2 stagiari Erasmus+ și fostul nostru voluntar pe termen lung, au organizat un eveniment final pentru a-și prezenta atelierele găzduite în Școala „Ion Creangă”. Evenimentul a implicat peste 60 de tineri și părinți, și au avut loc două spectacole de balet și unul contemporan, o expoziție foto despre Târgu Frumos, un concurs de șah, copiii au jucat un joc tradițional mexican, un spectacol de teatru prin imagini, o expoziție arheologică despre cultura Cucuteni și un meci de baschet între elevii școlilor „Ion Creangă” și „Garabet Ibrăileanu”.

An Italian artist in Târgu Frumos "The life is beautiful to see and to live and the world is too big. Don’t use social media for nothing. Learn, don’t use stereotypes, ask questions, when, why, who… don’t be afraid to ask about life!” says Sandro smiling to me, when I told him to share with me a piece of advice that he would give to the young people from Târgu Frumos. He stayed six months here, in this tiny town, doing activities at the ASIRYS Youth Center, gathering people who wanted to learn more about art and his way of expressing emotion. Sandro Piliu comes from Italy, Sardinia and says about himself that he’s a “little artist”, even if all the people around him declare that he’s much more than that. He has a lot of different talents and passions, but the most important one is the art of tattoos. He decided to come here, in Romania, because of his desire to find more and more about life and what it has to offer. “I get easily bored, I want to see outside the island.” He confessed that when he found the opportunity to come here, he was crossing a boring period of his life and saw it as a good chance to discover a new country, meet new people and create new memories. Even if he’s only 27, he has a collage of experiences that he never hesitated to share with all the people who showed interest in his story. “I was jumping from work to work, mostly tattooing.” But he has also been working in different Italian restaurant, where he developed his passion for cooking. He likes to identify and experience the cuisine that represents a specific culture, “I like to taste the true food in different countries”. For all the six months he spent here, he cooked everyday fresh meals not only for him, but also for the other international volunteers, who were grateful for the dedication that he showed during all the time, preparing the food for everyone, with an amazing availability to do it for the entire house. “Romanian food is fat because here is very cold, and you have Turkish influence, but sarmale, papanași and tortizi with brânză are very good!” Sandro likes the story of Dracula a lot and he has discovered that Romania it’s totally different than what he expected before coming here. “Italians have stereotypes, that Romanians steal, are violent, are thief, it’s a poor country, but no, it’s not true.” Even if he misses the sea of his island, the tattooing from his life, and of course, the espresso and the Italian pizza, he was impressed that in our country, there are “opportunities to expose your art.” Since he is very interested in drawing and painting, the cultural life that he discovered here was a point of reference when he is talking about Romania and what he likes here. “Italy is a closed circle. It’s hard and expensive to share art, expose your art. In Romania they help you, enter in a hub and see art, not only in galleries.” The Italian artist came in Târgu Frumos trough ERASMUS+, a program that gives you the opportunity to learn and to travel in different projects. He arrived in the Youth Center trough Arts Lab project, under the European Volunteering Service (EVS) umbrella. Sandro recognizes that he experienced a cultural shock in his first days here, but the family moments with the other European volunteers, the “enjoying, smiling” and the fact that “people want to have a conversation, are not cold”, created a comfortable environment for him. “My expression trough art helped me a lot” and he remembers with pleasure when a family that speaks Italian invited him for dinner. Nothing is impossible, even if it seems hard in the beginning.

He visited different regions from Romania and Transylvania impressed him the most because of its story and nature. In Târgu Frumos, he observed that “people are hard workers and poor, but chill because it’s a little town”. Sandro says it’s beautiful, because he got into the details here, like different types of minds and characters, especially cultures. At the Youth Center, he mostly improved his English. When he first came here, he barely knew how to present himself and we needed a translator to communicate with him, but now he is able to express himself and to talk to people without any fear. The desire to communicate broke the language barrier. Trough all the activities that he did here, he says that the teamwork and improvisation were the abilities that he improved the most. “I hope the center will have a lot of new volunteers, it’s important for them, they can change things in future.” He also says that people helped him a lot here, especially when he felt confused, and knows that he helped people as well, to “open their mind in relation with art”. Sandro likes hiking, walking in the forest to observe nature, he loves animals, he is interested in kayak canoe and music. He wishes to travel more and inspire people with and trough his art, to find different cultures and personal life stories to get more artistic. His volunteering months finished in September, but he didn’t leave without letting his print. “I wanted to give the youth center a sign to remember these six months.” He did a colorful murals on the Voluntari Street, down the future ACT 4 Sustainable Development hub and new volunteering center in Târgu Frumos.

Un artist italian în Târgu Frumos "Viața este frumoasă de văzut și de trăit, iar lumea este prea mare. Nu folosiți social media degeaba. Învață, nu folosi stereotipuri, pune întrebări, când, de ce, cine ... nu-ți fie frică să întrebi despre viata!" îmi zâmbește Sandro, când i-am spus să-mi împărtășească un sfat pe care să-l dea tinerilor din Târgu Frumos. A stat șase luni aici, în acest mic oraș, făcând activități la Centrul de Tineret ASIRYS, adunând oameni care doreau să afle mai multe despre artă și modul său de exprimare a emoției. Sandro Piliu vine din Italia, Sardinia și spune despre el că este un „mic artist”, chiar dacă toți oamenii din jurul său declară că este mult mai mult decât atât. Are o mulțime de talente și pasiuni diferite, dar cea mai importantă este arta tatuajelor. A decis să vină aici, în România, din cauza dorinței sale de a afla din ce în ce mai multe despre viață și despre ceea ce are de oferit. „Mă plictisesc ușor, vreau să văd în afara insulei.” El a mărturisit că atunci când a găsit ocazia de a veni aici, traversa o perioadă plictisitoare din viața sa și a văzut-o ca pe o bună șansă de a descoperi o nouă țară, de a cunoaște oameni noi și de a crea noi amintiri. Chiar dacă are doar 27 de ani, are un colaj de experiențe pe care nu a ezitat niciodată să le împărtășească tuturor celor care s-au arătat interesați de povestea sa. „Săream de la serviciu la serviciu, mai ales tatuând.” Dar a lucrat și în diferite restaurante italiene, unde și-a dezvoltat pasiunea pentru gătit. Îi place să identifice și să experimenteze bucătăria care reprezintă o cultură specifică, „Îmi place să gust mâncarea adevărată în diferite țări”. În toate cele șase luni petrecute aici, a gătit mese proaspete de zi cu zi nu numai pentru el, ci și pentru ceilalți voluntari internaționali, care au fost recunoscători pentru dedicarea pe care a arătat-o tot timpul, pregătind mâncarea pentru toată lumea, cu o disponibilitatea de a o face pentru întreaga casă. „Mâncarea românească este grasă pentru că aici e foarte rece și are o influență turcească, dar sarmale, papanași și tortizi cu brânză sunt foarte bune!” Lui Sandro îi place mult povestea lui Dracula și a descoperit că România este total diferită de ceea ce se aștepta înainte de a veni aici. „Italienii au stereotipuri, că românii fură, sunt violenți, sunt hoți, este o țară săracă, dar nu, nu este adevărat.” Chiar dacă îi este dor de marea insulei sale, de tatuajul din viața lui și, desigur, de espresso și pizza italiană, a fost impresionat de faptul că în țara noastră există „oportunități de a vă expune arta”. Întrucât este foarte interesat de desen și pictură, viața culturală pe care a descoperit-o aici a fost un punct de referință atunci când vorbește despre România și ceea ce îi place aici. „Italia este un cerc închis. Este greu și costisitor să împărtășești arta, să-ți expui arta. În România te ajută, intri într-un hub și vezi artă, nu numai în galerii. ” Artistul italian a venit la Târgu Frumos prin ERASMUS +, un program care vă oferă posibilitatea de a învăța și de a călători în diferite proiecte. A ajuns în centrul de tineret prin proiectul Arts Lab, sub umbrela Serviciului European de Voluntariat (EVS). Sandro recunoaște că a experimentat un șoc cultural în primele sale zile aici, dar momentele de familie cu ceilalți voluntari europeni, „plăcerea, zâmbetul” și faptul că „oamenii vor să aibă o conversație, nu sunt reci”, au creat un confortabil mediu pentru el. „Expresia mea prin artă m-a ajutat foarte mult” și își amintește cu plăcere când o familie care vorbește italiană l-a invitat la cină. Nimic nu este imposibil, chiar dacă pare greu la început.

A vizitat diferite regiuni din România și Transilvania l-a impresionat cel mai mult datorită poveștii și naturii sale. În Târgu Frumos, el a observat că „oamenii sunt muncitori și săraci, dar liniștiți pentru că este un oraș mic”. Sandro spune că este frumos, pentru că a intrat în detalii aici, precum diferite tipuri de minți și personaje, în special culturi. La Centrul pentru Tineret, și-a îmbunătățit în mare parte limba engleză. Când a venit pentru prima dată aici, abia știa să se prezinte și avea nevoie de un traducător care să comunice cu el, dar acum este capabil să se exprime și să vorbească cu oamenii fără nicio teamă. Dorința de a comunica a rupt bariera lingvistică. Prin toate activitățile pe care le-a făcut aici, el spune că munca în echipă și improvizația au fost abilitățile pe care le-a îmbunătățit cel mai mult. "Sper că centrul va avea mulți voluntari noi, este important pentru ei, ei pot schimba lucrurile în viitor." El spune, de asemenea, că oamenii l-au ajutat foarte mult aici, mai ales când se simțea confuz și știe că și-a ajutat oamenii să-și „deschidă mintea în relație cu arta”. Lui Sandro îi plac drumețiile, mersul prin pădure pentru a observa natura, iubește animalele, este interesat de canoe și muzică. El dorește să călătorească mai mult și să inspire oamenii cu arta sa, să găsească diferite culturi și povești de viață personală pentru a deveni mai artistic. Lunile sale de voluntariat s-au încheiat în septembrie, dar nu a plecat fără să-și lase amprenta. „Am vrut să dau centrului de tineret un semn pentru a-și aminti aceste șase luni.” A realizat picturi murale colorate pe strada Voluntari, pe viitorul hub ACT 4 Sustainable Development și noul centru de voluntariat din Târgu Frumos.

Shake your comfort zone, dance the experience! “Romania? What is Romania?” Ebet asked herself before taking the decision to come and spend in Târgu Frumos nine months of her life. She’s 29 and came from Mexico for the Arts Lab project, supported and financed by Erasmus+ and implemented by ASIRYS Super Tineri NGO. Romania was cold at that time and that was the very first thing that hit her here, but the friendly people who welcomed her in the community, made Ebet feel a warmth that eclipsed the winter weather. “With me, all the people were polite and gave me attention,” she said smiling happily, recalling the nice moments spent here. Ebet Nathanael Bautista studied Communication Sciences for four years in Mexico, but her burning passion is dancing. She started at 17, learning at the Royal Academy of Dance in Barcelona, and now she knows jazz, ballet classic, contemporary, belly dance, medieval, ancestral, traditional Mexican and learned the traditional Romanian dances as well. She came to Romania to discover more dances and to experience life in another country, as well as improving her English skills. After many dancing workshops with the volunteers from the Youth Center, the kids in schools, and the activities organized by the association, Ebet says that she learned how to work with groups of people and how to keep and manage control during activities. She also discovered how to improvise and she realized the importance of having a moment to think about your life. “In some places, communication with people was difficult, for example in the train station, but there are many other things that make this place beautiful.” Ebet is impressed by the Romanian traditions and says that it’s amazing how people here live together despite the differences between them. “You don’t forget your traditions!” she noticed, proudly continuing that wherever she has been, she managed to do Latin dance workshops and everybody was engaged in her activities. Even if she missed the Mexican food and her family, Ebet confessed that the best moments from Romania were between different people, with the other international volunteers, smiling without problems. The coexistence with the others, the interest to evolve and meet new people, the personal development achievements were some of her motivation to continue working in the Youth Center. “Enjoy and take advantage of your country, traditions, culture. Chase the opportunities!” Ebet wants to come back to Romania and she talks with excitement about her experience. Maybe it was the mămăliga that she loves so much which makes her think this way, or maybe the warm hugs and helpful people convinced her of the beauty of this country. It could also be the stunning landscapes or the different activities that got her out of her comfort zone. What we know for sure is that she brought energy wherever she has been.

Scuturați-vă zona de confort, dansați experiența! România? Ce este România? ” Ebet s-a întrebat înainte de a lua decizia de a veni să petreacă în Târgu Frumos nouă luni din viața ei. Are 29 de ani și a venit din Mexic pentru proiectul Arts Lab, susținut și finanțat de Erasmus + și implementat de ONG-ul ASIRYS Super Tineri. În România era frig la acea vreme și acesta a fost primul lucru care a lovit-o aici, dar oamenii prietenoși care au primit-o în comunitate au făcut-o pe Ebet să simtă o căldură care a eclipsat vremea de iarnă. „Cu mine, toți oamenii au fost politicoși și mi-au acordat atenție”, a spus ea zâmbind fericită, amintindu-și de momentele frumoase petrecute aici. Ebet Nathanael Bautista a studiat științele comunicării timp de patru ani în Mexic, dar pasiunea ei arzătoare este dansul. A început la 17 ani, învățând la Academia Regală de Dans din Barcelona și acum știe jazz, balet clasic, dans contemporan, belly dance, dans medieval, ancestral, tradițional mexican și a învățat și dansurile tradiționale românești. A venit în România pentru a descoperi mai multe dansuri și pentru a experimenta viața în altă țară, precum și pentru a-și îmbunătăți abilitățile de engleză. După multe ateliere de dans cu voluntarii de la Centrul de Tineret, copiii din școli și activitățile organizate de asociație, Ebet spune că a învățat cum să lucreze cu grupuri de oameni și cum să păstreze și să gestioneze controlul în timpul activităților. De asemenea, a descoperit cum să improvizeze și și-a dat seama de importanța de a avea un moment în care să te gândești la viața ta. ,,În unele locuri, comunicarea cu oamenii a fost dificilă, de exemplu în gară, dar există multe alte lucruri care fac acest loc frumos. ” Ebet este impresionată de tradițiile românești și spune că este uimitor modul în care oamenii de aici trăiesc împreună, în ciuda diferențelor dintre ei. „Nu-ți uiți tradițiile!” a observat, continuând cu mândrie că oriunde a fost, a reușit să facă ateliere de dans latin și toată lumea a fost implicată în activitățile ei. Chiar dacă i-a fost dor de mâncarea mexicană și de familia ei, Ebet a mărturisit că cele mai bune momente din România au fost între oameni diferiți, alături de ceilalți voluntari internaționali, zâmbind fără probleme. Coexistența cu ceilalți, interesul de a evolua și de a cunoaște oameni noi, realizările de dezvoltare personală au fost unele dintre motivația ei de a continua să lucreze în Centrul de Tineret. „Bucură-te și profită de țara, tradițiile, cultura ta. Urmăriți oportunitățile! ” Ebet vrea să revină în România și vorbește cu entuziasm despre experiența ei. Poate că mămăliga pe care o iubește atât de mult este cea care o face să gândească astfel, sau poate îmbrățișările calde și oamenii de ajutor au convins-o de frumusețea acestei țări. Ar putea fi, de asemenea, peisajele uimitoare sau diferitele activități care au scos-o din zona de confort. Ceea ce știm sigur este că ea a adus energie oriunde a fost.

A guy who didn’t like procrastinating What happens when you travel the world searching to gain more and more knowledge? Valentin has experienced that feeling and he still discovered every day, motivated by his desire to continue his engagement in the volunteering field, as he says. He started with courses for the chess club, back in Reunion, France, where he is from, then continued organizing tournaments, being an animator at different events with different topics like education, sports, or music. But then he wanted more and as soon as he moved to Tunisia, he started music courses and picking up trash, which he recognizes was demoralizing since he had to deal with a lot of garbage. But he didn’t stop the volunteering activities and decided to try something new, in Romania. “Travel and change the environment if you want to evolve!” he says after recalling all the things he has improved here, in Târgu Frumos, since his first day as a volunteer in ASIRYS Super Tineri organisation. “I have learned a lot related to relationships with other people, public speaking in English, playing music, and singing at the same time.” He discovered that it requires practice to combine ideas and information because few words usually have more sense, he explains. “I had to be pragmatic, to organize, and to speak at the same time!” And this is not easy when you have a bunch of teenagers looking at you closely, while you explain how to play guitar. Valentin Denis is 23 years old, but he already experienced a lot until now. He spent one year and 8 months in Tunisia, volunteering, working as a marketing consultant, doing photography, and making time for his personal projects as well. He studied for three years of geography in France, and his hobbies are music, design, photography, and chess. He applied for the “Arts Lab” project online because he was interested in photography and then continued and even extended his project period motivated by “being in the project, the group identity, our purpose, the possibility to master some skills by teaching people and the good environment”. Asked about his first thoughts about Romania, he remembers the cold, the fresh market that impressed him, the landscape, and the fact that in Târgu Frumos there is no public transport, which is not needed since it’s a small town. He is also very honest, saying that there are no events in the city and the cultural life is very low, with almost no young people living here, which is true since a lot of youngsters go to university in Iași. Besides that, the architecture, the communist influence, and the Romanian traditional drink, țuica, are some of the things that pop in his mind when he remembers this experience. “I don’t want to be a tourist anymore, I want something deeper,” he says, being grateful for all the people that shared the country with him. He likes very much tochitura and mămăliga and confessed that one of his favorite moments here was the sunset on Buznea hill. From his travels around the country, he speaks with excitement about the Peleș castle, which he saw like “one of the most beautiful castles I have seen in my life!”

Valentin spent in Târgu Frumos 9 months and had a lot of creative ideas to share with the youngsters that came at the Youth Center which is located on the Voluntari street (in English that would be translated as volunteers – coincidence? I think not). He had a photography workshop, a music one, he coordinated a chess club and because some people were interested, he decided to also create a digital workshop. And because he had a lot of information to offer to the ones willing to listen to him, he started “Iron mind”, where he talked about different useful topics for whoever feels a need to evolve in the personal development field. During his staying in Târgu Frumos, he confessed that he changed his relationship with arts. After two years of break from composing music, he discovered and rediscovered the feeling of creating art. “I don’t want to make it my job, I want to reach more” he says, his motivation coming from the inside, which makes him pushing hard in a subtle, realistic and mature way. The French volunteer has left behind him not only more chess tables on the Youth Center’s shelfs, but also interest for personal development, discovering arts and learning to be and do better. Equiped with a critical spirit, balanced emotions and desire to help others, he thought us that you can do a lot of things, and be good at everything, trough work. Hard work. Un tip căruia nu-i plăcea să amâne Ce se întâmplă atunci când călătorești în lume căutând pentru a dobândi din ce în ce mai multe cunoștințe? Valentin a experimentat acel sentiment și a descoperit încă zilnic, motivat de dorința sa de a-și continua angajamentul în domeniul voluntariatului, așa cum spune el. A început cu cursuri pentru clubul de șah, înapoi în Reunion, Franța, de unde provine, apoi a continuat să organizeze turnee, fiind animator la diferite evenimente cu diferite teme precum educație, sport sau muzică. Dar apoi și-a dorit mai mult și de îndată ce s-a mutat în Tunisia, a început cursuri de muzică și ridica gunoiul, despre care recunoaște că a fost demoralizator, deoarece a avut de-a face cu multe gunoaie. Dar nu a oprit activitățile de voluntariat și a decis să încerce ceva nou, în România. „Călătorește și schimbă mediul dacă vrei să evoluezi!” spune el după ce și-a amintit toate lucrurile pe care le-a îmbunătățit aici, la Târgu Frumos, încă din prima zi ca voluntar în organizația ASIRYS Super Tineri. „Am învățat multe despre relațiile cu alți oameni, vorbind în public în engleză, cântând la instrumente și cântând în același timp.” El a descoperit că necesită practică pentru a combina ideea și informația, deoarece câteva cuvinte au de obicei mai mult sens, explică el. „Trebuia să fiu pragmatic, să mă organizez și să vorbesc în același timp!” Și acest lucru nu este ușor atunci când ai o grămadă de adolescenți care te privesc îndeaproape, în timp ce explici cum să cânți la chitară. Valentin Denis are 23 de ani, dar a experimentat deja multe până acum. A petrecut un an și 8 luni în Tunisia, oferindu-se voluntar, lucrând ca consultant de marketing, făcând fotografie și făcându-și timp și pentru proiectele sale personale. A aplicat pentru proiectul „Arts Lab” online pentru că era interesat de fotografie și apoi și-a continuat și chiar și-a extins perioada de proiect motivată de „a fi în proiect, identitatea grupului, scopul nostru, posibilitatea de a stăpâni unele abilități prin predarea oamenilor și mediul bun ”. Întrebat despre primele sale gânduri despre România, el își amintește de frig, de piața proaspătă care l-a impresionat, de peisajul și de faptul că în Târgu Frumos nu există mijloace de transport în comun, care nu sunt necesare întrucât este un oraș mic. De asemenea, el este foarte sincer, spunând că nu există evenimente în oraș și viața culturală este foarte scăzută, aproape că nu locuiesc tineri aici, ceea ce este adevărat, deoarece mulți tineri merg la universitatea din Iași. Pe lângă asta, arhitectura, influența comunismului și băutura tradițională românească, țuica, sunt câteva dintre lucrurile care îi apar în minte atunci când își amintește despre această experiență. „Nu mai vreau să fiu turist, vreau ceva mai profund”, spune el, fiind recunoscător pentru toți oamenii care i-au împărtășit țara. Îi plac foarte mult tochitura și mămăliga și a mărturisit că unul dintre momentele sale preferate aici a fost apusul pe dealul Buznea. Din călătoriile sale prin țară, vorbește cu entuziasm despre castelul Peleș, pe care l-a văzut ca „unul dintre cele mai frumoase castele pe care le-am văzut în viața mea!”

Valentin a petrecut la Târgu Frumos 9 luni și a avut o mulțime de idei creative de împărtășit cu tinerii care au venit la Centrul de Tineret care este situat pe strada Voluntari (în engleză care s-ar traduce ca voluntari - coincidență? Cred că nu). A avut un atelier de fotografie, unul de muzică, a coordonat un club de șah și pentru că unii oameni erau interesați, a decis să creeze și un atelier digital. Și pentru că avea multe informații de oferit celor dispuși să-l asculte, a început „Minte de fier”, unde a vorbit despre diferite subiecte utile pentru oricine simte nevoia să evolueze în domeniul dezvoltării personale. În timpul șederii sale la Târgu Frumos, el a mărturisit că și-a schimbat relația cu artele. După doi ani de pauză de la compunerea muzicii, a descoperit și a redescoperit sentimentul de a crea artă. „Nu vreau să-mi fac treaba mea, vreau să ajung la mai mult”, spune el, motivația lui venind din interior, ceea ce îl face să împingă cu putere într-un mod subtil, realist și matur. Voluntarul francez a lăsat în urma lui nu doar mai multe mese de șah pe rafturile Centrului de tineret, ci și interesul pentru dezvoltarea personală, descoperirea artelor și învățarea de a fi și de a face mai bine. Echipat cu un spirit critic, emoții echilibrate și dorință de a-i ajuta pe ceilalți, el ne-a crezut că poți face o mulțime de lucruri și să fii bun la toate, prin muncă. Munca grea. About the conference Despre conferință On July 24-25, 2020, the Non-Formal Conference for the Promotion and Valorization of Cultural Heritage through Volunteer Projects and Initiatives took place in the region of Moldova, hosted in Târgu Frumos, at ACT House. The event was attended by 15 teachers and youth workers from 10 schools and organizations. The event included a diverse program. On the first day, after a knowledge activity, the participants experienced the nonformal workshops that we carry out within the Arts Lab 2.0 project: music, ceramics, photography, and film. Also, on the first day, the participants were involved in the "The Beautiful Fair Town" exhibition, made by 4 volunteers from Spain, Italy, Peru, Turkey, and South Korea.
În perioada 24-25 iulie 2020, s-a desfășurat Conferința Non-formală de Promovare și Valorificare a Patrimoniului Cultural prin Proiecte și Inițiative de Voluntariat în regiunea Moldova, găzduită în Târgu Frumos, la ACT House. La eveniment au participat 15 profesori și lucrători de tineret, din 10 școli și organizații. Evenimentul a inclus un program diversificat. În prima zi, după o activitate de cunoaștere, participanții au experimentat atelierele nonformale pe care le desfășurăm în cadrul proiectului Arts Lab 2.0: muzică, ceramică, fotografie și film. De asemenea, tot în prima zi, participanții au fost implicați în expoziția ''The Beautiful Fair Town'', realizată de cei 4 voluntari din Spania, Italia, Peru, Turcia și Coreea de Sud.
The second day of the conference was dedicated to the presentation of Erasmus programs and the European Solidarity Corps, we discussed projects and good practices, presenting Arts Lab 1.0 and other projects of the participants, we planned new projects, established partnerships and entered the Erasmus platforms and ESC to get acquainted with the process of submitting European projects.

A doua zi a conferinței a fost dedicată prezentării programelor Erasmus și Corpul European de Solidaritate, am discutat despre proiecte și bune practici, prezentând Arts Lab 1.0 și alte proiecte ale participanților, am planificat noi proiecte, am stabilit parteneriate și am intrat pe platformele Erasmus și ESC pentru a ne familiariza cu procesul de depunere de proiecte europene.
