I wanted to create an outfit that wouldn’t subject itself to a certain gender and would be comfortable for anyone to wear.
PROCCESS Initially this is the first design that I had sketched out and was going to create a laced up vest. But as I started and sketching and sewing more my design kept changing and I ended up with a coat and open vest

THE POINT Why do we categorize our clothing by gender? Is there really a rule stating what is appropriate clothing for men and for women? I want to break that barrier that tells people only a certain group, person, or gender can wear specific garments. All clothing is unisex if you let it. It is society that has unwritten rules that makes us question our decisions within fashion. Let us live freely and live in the mindset that all clothes are unisex, gender norms suck anyway.

I N S P I R
I took inspiration from one of my favorite films, Fight Club, that came out in 1999, directed by David Finch. The costuming that is created for Brad Pitt, as he is seen in more “feminine styles and garments is what I drew most of my inspiration from and how he wears the clothing with confidence and without concern.
A T I O N
Breaking gender norms and dressing in whichever way one pleases nonchalantly was the aura I wanted to capture with my design.
