Exchange program history: Informal student exchanges began in 1966 with an agreement formally adopted by city leadership in 1989. Eutin-Lawrence personal connections: Martin Vollertsen, chair of Eutin’s Friends of Lawrence, has gained new family from the program. His daughter, Inga, met Kris Humbarger from Lawrence when Kris interned at a bank in Eutin. They married, and now Martin and his wife, Marion, have two granddaughters, Martha and Greta.
