Bob with his grandsons Bobby & Steven at the Arcade

Great love stories often have their start in

the simplest places. They can occur within a movie theater, from high atop the Ferris Wheel, during a carefree ride on the Merry Go Round or within a child’s classroom, as Bob and Marie DiPeso’s story lovingly demonstrates. Bob and Marie were married on June 9th 1962. Their love story, however, started approximately 10 years earlier when they attended St. Ann’s Grade School together. Both Bob and Marie are Wildwood Catholic High School graduates and are proof that sometimes first loves can last a lifetime. Their lifetime of love by-the-sea spans years of sacrifices, along with life’s share of struggles, yet always showing what an honest day’s work, family commitment and hometown pride can produce. A product of hardworking “Wildwood stock,” Bob started working at the age of 10 shining shoes, delivering papers and

then as a teen, giving out change in the Kentucky Derby Arcade on the Wildwood Boardwalk. 50 years later, Bob has become a fixture on his corner of Schellenger & the Boardwalk at his own Bobby Dee’s Casino Arcade. While growing up, Marie held a job at her parent’s Avalon store, Sam’s Market. With no sign of slowing down, Bob and Marie continue the longstanding tradition they instilled in their children that comes from a solid work ethic, as they work together at their boardwalk arcade, in their Avalon Restaurant “The Rocking Chair,” Dee Developers and Marie’s Clothing Store in Cape May. The DiPeso’s have made a good life for their family, while each making a positive impact within their seaside communities. They raised both of their children, Teresa and Bob in North Wildwood and are now enjoying watching their five grandchildren and great granddaughter grow up here as well. As the devoted couple celebrates their 50th wedding anniversary with their extended family in attendance, their memorable journey is far from over. Best wishes to the happy couple!
