So... is it time to sell your Summit home?

By RES Staff It’s tough to say how long the scorching market will last, but well into this spring, property in Summit County was commanding a seller’s-market price and sometimes going under contract in a matter of hours. Taking an early 2017 snapshot of Breckenridge, single family home sales were averaging $1,441,352, compared to $1,123,027 for 2016. Summit County is on par with the real estate scene in many hot U.S. markets. The difference is Summit’s second home market – 60-some percent of residential properties. While many sellers in other markets are buyers themselves – sorting through limited trade-up supply and needing a place to live – that situation is a bit different in the case of an owner parting with a second home in-

Where to park, what to pay in Breckenridge? By RES Staff

Where to park, what to pay? The good news? Free parking is still alive in Breck. It’s still very possible to park your car and get around town without paying a dime: • Satellite Lot, 1760 Airport Road. Free parking and free Yellow Route bus into town. Overnight parking available for $5, but no sleeping in your car. • Ice Rink, 189 Boreas Pass Road. Free parking and fast ride to downtown by free Trolley, Brown and Blue routes. • South Gondola Lot, 145 Watson Street (summer). Easy walk to Main Street. And parking is Free After Three at: F Lot, Tiger Dredge, East Sawmill and Wellington Lots, which are close and walkable to Main Street. Free Short-Term Parking (three hours) at French Street Lot and French Street.

The inevitable news? Most of Downtown from Park Avenue to Ridge Street is now pay parking from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. There are usually two parking meters per block face. You can pay with a credit card or smart phone and you can use a credit card or smart phone. You’ll need to download the Passport Parking App, but it’s pretty easy. Sorry, no parking from 2 to 6 a.m.

Parking is a bit cheaper Monday through Thursday. It’s free for the first 15 minutes (you still have to log in), 50 cents the first hour, and $1 each for the first and second additional hours.
