Health Office Reminders for the Fall
Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
IMMUNIZATIONS: It is not too late to turn in an immunization record for the fall. Please send all new and updated immunization records for your student to the respective Health Office that is associated with your child’s grade, as you receive them. If you prefer, you may email them to nrhyne@sca-kc. org and tsummitt@sca-kc.org instead. If you have questions regarding requirements for your child, please check with your Healthcare Provider. Noelle has been emailing families if your child is in need of an immunization. Please communicate with us if you will be receiving this over the summer, so that we will know why an updated record has not yet been submitted. If you are a new family, please email or drop your student’s immunization records off ASAP. Below are the requirements for K-12: • Kindergarten requires 4 Polio, 5 DTaP, 2 MMR, 3 Hepatitis
B, and 2 Chickenpox vaccines. • 8th graders: A Tdap booster and Meningococcal vaccination are required in order to start 8th grade. • 12th graders are required to have two doses of
Meningococcal unless the first dose was administered on or after the age of 16 years, then only one dose is required. If you have questions, please contact your child’s physician or the Jackson County Health Department. The deadline to turn in an updated/immunization record is August 13, 2021. Your child must be up-to-date prior to starting school the first day.
RELIGIOUS EXEMPTIONS: The only type of religious exemption form that will be accepted is the original card from the Health Department or Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services. We will not accept religious exemption forms that have been photocopied, faxed, or scanned. If you uploaded a copy of the religious exemption for RenWeb/FACTS SIS during enrollment, please send the original form into the Health Office ASAP. Religious exemptions need to be updated in Kindergarten, 8th, and 12th grades. For questions about this exemption form, you may contact the Health Department at 816-404-6416.
EMERGENCY ACTION PLANS: If your student has an emergency action plan that needs to be discussed with the Nursing Staff or teacher, please email the Health Office at nrhyne@sca-kc.org and tsummitt@ sca-kc.org.
MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION: No medications will be given to your child without a parent’s permission on file. PLEASE do not send medications to school with your child.

From Lee's Summit to Oxford... SCA Alumna Travels Across the Pond
SCA 2019 graduate and alumna Natalie Maruschak will be traveling across the pond to attend Oxford University through a study abroad program at John Brown University (JBU). Natalie is studying history at JBU and has been a member of the Honors Scholars Program for three years. She was blessed with the opportunity to apply to the Oxford semester through this program. She will study at Oxford from January to April of 2022, receiving specialized instruction in research in both World War I and Modern European History. Natalie will also get to attend several university lectures as well as join Oxford students in studying British culture through a Christian perspective and embark on several field trips throughout Britain to study at different museums and historical sites. She is thrilled to have received this incredible opportunity and is greatly looking forward to January when her adventure begins! We love seeing how God works through the SCA Alumni!
