Soprano Stephanie Hradsky holds a Master’s degree in Voice and Opera from McGill University and a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance from the University of Michigan. In recent years, Ms. Hradsky took part in the Opera as Theatre program run through The Banff Centre, as well as the Moravian Master Class where Ms. Hradsky performed in the eastern Czech Republic. Equally at home in opera and musical theatre, past productions include Don Giovanni (Zerlina), Rinaldo (Almirena), Le nozze di Figaro (Barbarina), The Magic Flute (Papagena), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Peaseblossom), The Full Monty, Kiss of the Spiderwoman and Merton of the Movies (Flips Montague, Canadian Premiere).

Bass-Baritone Aaron Dimoff is returning to Calgary Opera after completing the Emerging Artist Program in 2015. As a member of the program, his most recently performed roles were the British Major in Silent Night, Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro, Des Grieux in Le portrait de Manon, and Zuniga in Carmen during the the 2014/2015 season. Past appearances with the company include Imperial Commissioner in Madame Butterfly, Collatinus in The Rape of Lucretia, and Father in Hansel and Gretel. Mr. Dimoff recently made his Edmonton Opera debut, again as Zuniga in Carmen.

Uwe Dambruch Bass-Baritone

Abbey Curzon Soprano

Spirit 2 Soprano Abbey Curzon from Calgary, received her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from Rice University. At Rice University, she performed the roles of Fredrika in A Little Night Music and Amore in L’incoronazione di Poppea. She attended the Brevard Music Center summer program and performed Josephine in HMS Pinafore and Nannetta in Falstaff. At Indiana University she played Noémi in Cendrillon, Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro, the Zweiter Knabe in Die Zauberflöte and was a member of Reimagining Opera for Kids. In May 2015, she received her Master of Music Voice Performance Degree from Indiana University.

Melissa Peiou* Mezzo-soprano

Spirit 3 Canadian Mezzo-soprano Melissa Peiou is developing an enviable reputation as a creative and imaginative young artist noted for the embodiment and detailed portrayal of her characters. Roles performed include: a “lively and flirtatious” Nancy in Flotow’s Martha, Dorabella in Mozart’s Così fan tutte; Nancy in Britten’s Albert Herring, Ruggiero in Handel’s Alcina; Cornelia in Handel’s Giulio Cesare; Gianetta in Donzietti’s L’eliser d’amore, and Third Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute. In the 2016 season, Ms. Peiou will soon be performing in Haydn’s Lord Neilson Mass with The Festival Chorus of Calgary. *Melissa has been generously adopted by Don Swystun & Kerrie Penney

Sarastro Uwe Dambruch returns to Calgary Opera after his critically acclaimed role debut as Fasolt in Das Rheingold with Pacific Opera Victoria. German born and Calgary based, he has performed with Deutsche Oper am Rhein Duesseldorf, Frankfurt Opera, the Bayreuth Festival, Zuerich, Hannover, Karlsruhe, and the Taiwan Symphony. North American appearances include Vancouver, Victoria, and Edmonton Opera, Opera Hamilton, North Carolina Opera, Florentine Opera and Alberta Ballet. He sang Wagnerian excerpts in the Cannes-award-winning film Wahnfried. Upcoming are Sarastro in The Magic Flute with Opera Classica Europe, the biggest open air summer opera festival in Germany, Hunding/Act 1 of Die Walkuere in concert, and in 2017 his role debut as Baron Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier.

Jason Ragan* Tenor

2nd Priest & Armed Man 1 Born and raised in Magrath, Alberta, Tenor Jason Ragan recently completed a Masters of Music from the University of Western Ontario, under the tutelage of Theodore Baerg. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Lethbridge where he studied with Blaine Hendsbee. Mr. Ragan’s recent roles include Gonzalve in L’heure espagnole, Ramiro in La Cenerentola, Male Chorus in Rape of Lucretia with UWOpera, Don Ottavio Don Giovanni with Accademia Europea Dell’Opera, the title role in Britten’s Albert Herring with Opera NUOVA, as well as Eisenstein Die Fledermaus, and Tamino in The Magic Flute with University of Lethbridge Opera Workshop. Mr. Ragan has also been a featured soloist in Handel’s Messiah with both the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra and the Lethbridge Symphony Orchestra. Jason is delighted to be performing with Calgary Opera as a member of its Emerging Artist program and recently performed the role of Count Albert (Graf) in Die tote Stadt – The Dead City. *Jason has been generously adopted by Beverley & David Foy
