Brett’s BBQ aiming to open Katy/ Fulshear location in mid-August By Landan Kuhlmann LKuhlmann@fortbendstar.com A Katy-area barbecue shop is expanding, and has plans to open this month in the northern part of Fort Bend County. According to the restaurant’s Facebook page, Brett’s BBQ Shop is aiming to open its second location at 25220 Kingsland Blvd. in the Katy/Fulshear area in the middle of August. In just three years, Brett’s BBQ Shop has already outgrown its 600-square-foot digs on 606 S. Mason Road in Katy and is headed to the new Boardwalk Crossings. Owner Brett Jackson started the oakWorkers slice barbecue at Brett’s smoked, Central Texas style barbecue BBQ’s original location. They have joint in October 2018, and Texas Monthly closed the original spot to relocate in named the restaurant to its 2021 “50 Best Katy/Fulshear later this month. BBQ Joints” list.

The original location has since closed up shop ahead of its relocation to a bigger site. On July 18, the restaurant announced on Facebook that it has closed the doors at 606 South Mason Rd. ahead of the anticipated mid-August opening. The original restaurant first opened in 2018. Last December, the restaurant told The Star that the new 4,858-square-foot facility will also give Brett’s BBQ access to a full kitchen with a convection oven, fryers and flat top grills, meaning they will no longer be limited to only using barbecue pits. “What a ride from start to finish,” pitmaster Brett Jackson wrote on Facebook. To stay up to date on the grand opening of the Katy/Fulshear location, follow the restaurant’s Facebook page @brettsbarbecueshop or visit their website.
