There is little room for an editorial so we move straight into the nitty-gritty of Suffolk butterflies. Rob Parker presents an extended report on our 2009 butterflies, Peter Dare analyses last year’s WCBS, we have a number of articles regarding observations of butterfly behaviour in gardens and woodland, and Richard Stewart poses an intriguing question about human behaviour. We have three events in ‘Save our Butterflies’ week. Trudie Willis has a ‘must visit’ butterfly garden at Aldeburgh which will be open on Sunday 25th July. In the south of the county at Stoke by Nayland, Tracey Hayter will be opening her Stewardship Scheme farm with established wildflower/butterfly meadows on Sunday 1st August. In the evening of Wednesday 28th July the Ipswich Wildlife Rangers will hold a moth night at Orwell Country Park.
