future entrepreneures
By toni lamBert, entrepreneurship instructor
This year the Entrepreneurship class was full of new and exciting hands-on learning experiences. Students were able to learn about the many aspects of entrepreneurship by working together to design and produce actual products in the classroom by using design software and sublimation. Students created coasters, keychains, and their own custom crewneck sweatshirts. Once the sweatshirts were completed, they put together a presentation for administrators in which they discussed the entire process, which included the decision making process, trial and error, overcoming obstacles, working together and ultimately creating a product they were happy with and were able to proudly wear in school.

In light of the Damar Hamilin tragedy that took place, the students came together to design and produce a one of a kind t-shirt, with proceeds from the sale going to St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy in Damar’s honor. Additionally, the class was asked to create a logo and design for the Jazz Messengers, which was another great experience. Their final project of the year was designing and printing custom t-shirts and keychains for the senior class. The students have really enjoyed this hands-on approach to learning and now have new skills that will benefit them in the future.
