As usual, this edition has been a joint effort between our shivering bureau in Cape Town and our Ballito office on the subtropical KZN North Coast (where even the coldest winter mornings pass for T-shirt weather in other parts of the country).

Wherever you happen to be reading this issue — from the comfort of an airport lounge, the lobby of a luxury hotel, or the clubhouse of a leafy estate — it offers you a little sunshine and inspiration to brighten even the bleakest of winter days.
