The Word magazine is the first such publication in Australia to be written entirely by its readers. We are a free full-colour tabloid, all revenue being generated from advertising. We started in July 2004 in the Tuggeranong Valley and now circulate 35 000 copies to 850 sites across Canberra and Queanbeyan. The Word is powered by Ezyzine software that enables readers to upload editorial and images, comment on other submissions, track articles and much more. Around 70% of approved online submissions are taken from the site and placed in the printed edition. Articles that generate viewer interest, are well written, carry images and come in earlier in our cycle are well placed to be published in print. Articles or press releases that have obviously not been proofed by a friend, are disjointed with no apparent direction and likely to appear in other publications verbatum will be unlikely to make it to press. Please enjoy this fresh approach to media.
