Land Reclamation Research Efforts
Experimental research test plots, scattered throughout the Region, helped to establish the type of treatment necessary for successful reintroduction of grasses, shrubs and trees. Lime and fertilizer combinations and various varieties of plant species were tested and monitored to determine soil additive requirements and the most adaptable plant species for barren sites.
