DepEd Bukidnon spearheads Seminar Workshop on Action Research Making By: Orlando Tinaco,T-111 Husayan Elementary,School,Kadingilan District

Design to provide teachers a wide range of knowledge in action research making and to elevate their competence and skills in the implementation of different interventions based on suggested recommendations, the DepEd Bukidnon had successfully spearheaded a series of Seminar-Workshop on Action Research Making in different schedules for Northern and Southern schools. The said educational activity kicked off last Dec. 21, 2011.Education Program Specialist, Dr. Ellen Azuelo has explained thoroughly the correct format of DepEd Format Action Research. Accordingly, any action research to be conducted and studied by the teachers in the field must seek approval to the higher office for validation purposes. It was also suggested that a new DepEd format of action research,which is also currently utilized by public school teachers nationwide, must be strictly followed.

Here is the format of Action Research: 1. Situation 11. The Problem 111. Genetation and Alternative Solution 1V. Plan of Action ( includes the Objectives,Time Frame, Target Subject) V.Research Design VI. Finding of the Study V11.Conclusions and Recommendations V111. Reflections 1X.Bibliography During the seminar proper. the teachers were required to submit at least one output to be presented to the whole group.After the activity, the participants were given a certificate of participation and fact sheets which will be utilized by teachers for their re-echo sessions in their respective clusters or district. A credit to the resource speakers who had taken up the cudgels to this outputbased activity,the different committees that extended their collaborative support of the DepEd thrust and programs in developing and honing the innovative skills of the teachers.

Bibingka Festival, a success

CAGAYAN de Oro City - The Philippines is not just a country of beautiful destinations but also a paradise of food and native delicacies. Its rich culinary culture had led to the creation of different festivities and events that help sustain the visitors’ arrivals both local and international. One such celebrated events are the food festivals. Filipino cuisine is one of the reasons why It’s More Fun in the Philippines and that is why festivals about food have been celebrated in the country and took part in the Local Governments different annual events. In Northern Mindanao, one of the municipalities of Misamis Oriental once again celebrated a festival, which has formed a part of its tourism products, the “Bibingka Festival”. Bibingka is a soft and spongy glutinous rice cake that is baked

and slightly browned on the surface and lined underneath with toasted banana leaves to enhance its aromatic flavor. It is topped with cheese or pinipig which has gained popularity in the culinary scenes in the country. Backed by the Department of Tourism (DOR-10) and initiated by the local government unit of Manticao town, the Bibingka Festival 2013 ran between February 1 and 7, along the theme “Changes with Unity: Heading to a Sustainable Development of Manticao”. The festivity was highlighted by the street dancing and tableau competitions on February 7. Manticao is located west of Misamis Oriental, reachable by jeepney or bus ride from the West Bound Terminal of Cagayan de Oro City. The fare ranges from Php 80 to Php 120 per passenger.

Two years ago, international Filipino pianist Rudolf Golez collaborated with the Manila Symphony Orchestra (MSO) during the birth centenary of the cofoundress of Liceo de Cagayan University, Madame Elsa P.
