The Offutt AFB telephone system is NOT secure. Do not discuss classified information over the telephone.

Personnel making unauthorized disclosures of classified or sensitive official defense information, to include over the telephone, are subject to disciplinary actions lAW AFI 31-401, Information Security Program Management.
Promoting Good Telephone Service/Authorized Use Military telephones are authorized for GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL USE ONLY and must be limited to mission accomplishment. Proper Use These guidelines should be followed when using a military telephone: A. When receiving a call: 1. Answer as promptly as possible. 2. Identify the office name, your rank and name. 3. Ask “How may I help you?” 4. Speak distinctly and pleasantly. 5. Do not disclose the location of anyone absent. 6. Tactfully request the caller’s identity if necessary. 7. Take a message willingly. 8. Transfer a call only when you are sure of the number of the office you are dialing. B. When placing a call: 1. Plan a precise and efficient conversation. 2. Place the call yourself. 3. Ensure the correct number is available. 4. Be prepared when the called party answers. 5. Identify yourself and your office to the person that answers. 6. State your purpose for calling. 7. Keep the conversation brief and professional. 8. Limit calls to the duration necessary.
Emergency Calls To request emergency assistance from the Security Police, Fire Dept. and/or Base Clinic (all three services will be available): From an on-base extension (294 or 232), dial 294-3000 or 911. From a commercial line (phone with other prefix), dial 402-294-3000. NOTE: Base housing residents should dial 402-294-3000 for fastest service. Dialing 911 from a commercial line will alert Sarpy County, who will in turn have to alert the base’s emergency services.

Military Telephone Classifications CLASS A is authorized for the transaction of official government business, with access to city toll trunks and DSN circuits. CLASS C is authorized for, but not limited to, on-base official calls only. Direct dial access is not permitted to city toll trunks or DSN circuits, but incoming official calls may be received.
Dialing Procedures Local Call Procedures - On/Off Base A. B ase extension-to-base extension; dial 294-XXXX or 232-XXXX, whichever appropriate. B. To call off base, use a Class A or CA 1 telephone, dial 99+402+7 digit number. C. To call Offutt AFB from off base, Dial 402-294-XXXX or 402-232-XXXX.
