Holiday Events Planned for Downtown Summit

HillTop Elf Scavenger Hunt

The popular HillTop Elf Scavenger Hunt returns this year and runs through Saturday, Dec. 18, designed for children and adults alike. The Elves have found holiday season homes inside more than 100 different downtown Summit businesses and in storefront windows. The more elves you find, the better chance to win, and no purchase is necessary. Scavenger Hunt Forms are available at all participating businesses and may be downloaded from the SDI website. Participating businesses are listed on the form, on which shoppers identify where they saw the elf at each business. Completed forms must be turned in by 4 p.m. on Dec. 18 to be entered to win a $500 Summit VISA Gift Card. In addition, 10 runners up will each win $100 gift cards. Winners will be drawn on Monday, Dec. 20, and notified by email

Horse & Carriage Rides

Visitors are invited to take a break from shopping to enjoy holiday music, strolling carolers and brass, and free horse and carriage rides from 1-4 on Saturdays, Dec. 4, 11 and 18. The boarding location will be Lyric Park, at the corner of Bank Street and Beechwood Road.

Ice Sculpting, Santa Photo Booth

Even more holiday fun is in store for Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m., when an ice carver will be creating holiday sculptures at The Promenade, 426 Springfield Ave. While carving will take place until 3 that day, the sculptures will remain at The Promenade for as long as weather permits. New this year is the Santa Photo Booth, where all are welcome to take free photos with Santa at The Promenade. Free downtown parking
