24 HOURS IN SINGAPORE Singapore offers the perfect place to a break up that long-haul flight, writes Eliza Crisp. ALTHOUGH SINGAPORE’S CHANGI Airport is continuously voted one of the best in the world, this dazzling city offers plenty of reasons to venture past the arrivals gate on your stopover.

11AM Time to discover Orchard Road! Home to the famed Singapore Shopping Festival, this bustling strip is a mecca for shopping addicts all year round. For lunch, head to Michelin-starred Din Tai Fung for a generous serving of xiao long bao dumplings.

9AM Beat the tropical heat by hitting the streets early, and make your way to the top of the Marina Bay Sands Casino complex. The expansive rooftop SkyPark features multiple restaurants, landscaped gardens, and an impressive infinity pool. This architectural wonderland cost a cool $8 billion to build, and provides sweeping views across the island.

2PM You deserve a drink, so head to the luxurious Raffles Hotel Singapore for an obligatory Singapore Sling. Established in 1887, the colonial architecture of this iconic hotel is a photographer’s dream.

5PM Treat that grumbling tummy to some traditional hawker food at Lau Sa Pat food markets. The chili crab is considered Singapore’s national dish, but more adventurous foodie types might like to try the spicy stingray. 8PM After dinner, stop by Gardens by the Bay for the nightly light show, starting from 8pm. This choreographed spectacular showcases park highlights such as the Flower Dome, Cloud Forest and the Supertree Grove, and provides the perfect way to wind down after an adventurous day.
