Q: WHEN IS THE IDEAL TIME FOR ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT? A: The American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends a check-up with an orthodontist no later than age seven. Braces usually begin between the ages of eight and 14 when a child has lost most of their primary teeth and the majority of permanent teeth have grown in.
