Rotary Youth Exchange Sponsoring Gap Year Programs and Summer Programs Abroad for Students

Rotary Youth Exchange is a leading sponsor of student exchange programs in many countries. The sponsorship for these programs is offered via various Rotary clubs that are present in more than 100 countries. The youth exchange programs focus on building peace, one young student at a time. Students under these programs learn new languages, as well as discover foreign cultures to become truly global citizens. Rotary Youth Exchange provides some short-term programs that last from several days to three months. At the latest media event, the spokesperson of Rotary Youth Exchange revealed, “We organize student exchange programs for the youth between 15 and 19 years of age. Our short-term exchanges are often structured as camps, tours or homestays that take place when the school is not in session. We also sponsor long-term exchanges that last a full academic year, and our students attend local schools and live with multiple host families. Through our sponsored programs, they get a chance to develop lifelong leadership skills.

Rotary Youth Exchange’s programs help students in building lasting friendships with young people from around the world and in unlocking their true potential. One of these sponsored programs is the high school study abroad program, which is a long-term travel program. This is the flagship program of Rotary Youth Exchange for young people aged 14 – 19 years. The experience for this program begins a year before going to study abroad, as students go through the application, selection, and preparation processes. The spokesperson further asserted, “During our students’ academic year abroad, they live with as many as three or four carefully selected and trained host families. They study at a local high school and become proficient in a new language. Our high school study abroad program is an immersion program that helps students become bicultural and bilingual and forever change their perspective of the world. For those who think it might be too late, we also arrange for the supportive gap year programs abroad.”

Rotary Youth Exchange offers gap year programs abroad that are designed primarily for the current high school students. However, in fact, the sponsor has a limited number of opportunities for students to participate in the program after graduation from a U.S. or Canadian high school. Thus, students can easily put meaning into their gap year and spend it by studying abroad. Rotary Youth Exchange makes sure that its sponsored students get the basics like boarding, rooms, and school fees. For this purpose, it screens and trains the host families so they may also involve students in their family, community, and cultural activities.
