Rotary Youth Exchange Offering Rewarding High School Study Abroad Programs

Rotary Youth Exchange offers Long-Term Exchange Program (LTEP) to students willing to study abroad. Students are required to attend high school classes full time in the country where they want to study. Managed by Rotary International, the high school study program often lasts for one full academic year. During this program, students need to attend school while living with two to three families in the host country.

Answering a query about the high school study abroad program, the spokesperson of Rotary Youth Exchange said, “Rotary Youth Exchange offers rewarding, detailed high school study abroad programs to students. These study abroad programs help students gain a better understanding of the foreign culture while spending time with some host families during their stay. Rotary Club does the careful screening of the host families to ensure every student’s safety and security. Furthermore, the students get a monthly stipend from the host Rotary Club along with a professional counselor to help students get the most out of the exchange program.”

For students willing to study abroad, Rotary Youth Exchange helps them join high school study abroad programs. Typically, the Long-Term Exchange Program (LTEP) lasts for one year. After completing the program, the enrolled students can serve as an ambassador of their community and country in a foreign land. They’ll benefit from blending into another culture while knowing newer ways of living. Students also learn about accomplishments and practices in other countries while making lifelong friends. When students return to their home country, they have a greater sense and deeper understanding of the world and different cultures. Since the students don’t need specific academic credits for graduating from high school, Rotary Youth Exchange programs are less stressful for them.

The spokesperson further stated, “At Rotary Youth Exchange, we are aware of how challenging it is for students from different cultures to get fully immersed in a new one. Thus, our programs are set up so that participants can feel comfortable with their host families while still learning about a different way of life and educational system. Since Rotary Club members run the program exclusively on their own time, expenses are kept to a minimum. However, students need to consult their local club or district for more information, as the costs may vary as per different countries where the exchange may happen.”

Rotary Youth Exchange strives to give young people the chance to engage in cross-cultural exchanges and grow into leaders who support peace and justice on a global basis. Because the program is run locally, all applicants must be sponsored by a local Rotary Club and district. All participants in an exchange – students and volunteers – must be hospitable and supportive of one another for this to be successful.
