Equipment Guide Your equipment doesn’t necessarily have to be bought new; you can borrow equipment from friends and family. However it would be a good idea to use and test your equipment in the outdoors prior to the event to ensure you are happy with your kit and it’s comfortable to use for an extended period.

For your adventure it is important that you have the right equipment to keep you safe and as comfortable as possible in the outdoors where a variety of weather conditions can be encountered. Below is a recommended guide for equipment that you will need to bring with you or potentially consider taking depending on your kit preferences.

Trekking

When travelling on an adventure your equipment should be carried in a rucksack rather than a suitcase to enable porters to be able to carry your bag easily on the event. Bear in mind that your main rucksack should not exceed 15kg as you may face additional charges from National Parks if your bag weighs more – it’s also important for the welfare of your sherpas to keep your equipment to the essentials. Bear in mind that if you are bringing clothes to keep warm for colder conditions that it is better to have several thinner layers rather than fewer thicker layers. The air gets trapped between the layers and keeps you warm. If you have questions regarding equipment we would recommend speaking to either specialist outdoor equipment providers such as Cotswold Outdoors (who you receive a discount from once you are registered) or alternatively we are happy to discuss equipment needs with you.
