Avesta Art
Avesta Art har placerat Avesta på konstens karta. År 1995 hölls den första utställningen med internationell samtidskonst i Verket och mottagandet från både konstnärer och besökare var omedelbart, stort och positivt. Gensvaret för samtidskonsten har inspirerat Avesta kommun att långsiktigt driva en verksamhet som speglar och tydliggör industrihistorien. Det är just relationen mellan industrihistoria och samtidskonst som är grunden för Avesta Art. Varje sommar mellan maj och september visas utställningar med ett nytt tema. Mellan år 1995 och 2018 har 245 konstnärer medverkat i Avesta Art. Konstnärerna är verksamma både i Sverige och internationellt, och arbetar i olika material och tekniker.
Avesta Art has put Avesta on the art map. Verket’s first exhibition of international contemporary art was held in 1995, and the reaction from artists and visitors alike was immediate, enormous and favourable. This response to contemporary art inspired Avesta Municipality to embark upon long-term initiatives that reflect and clarify our industrial past. It is this relationship between industrial history and contemporary art that is the foundation for Avesta Art. Exhibitions are held every summer between May and September, with new themes each year. From 1995 to 2018, a total of 245 artists participated in Avesta Art. The artists are active both in Sweden and abroad, and they work in different materials and techniques.
Samlingen - Verkets permanenta konst De flesta konstverken i samlingen har kommit på plats och blivit kvar genom Avesta Art, andra har donerats eller köpts in för placering i Verket. Den permanenta konsten är mångsidig: installationer, videoverk, måleri och interaktiva verk. Gemensamt för konsten är att den är integrerad i Verkets industrihistoria och miljö. I den permanenta samlingen ingår verk av bland andra Bo Ek, Kjell Engman, Torbjörn Grass, Arijana Kajfes, Sonja Nilsson, Tomas Nordberg, Lennart Rodhe och av Björn Lövin i Björn Lövins galleri. Under Avesta Art 2019 visas även Untitled, 2018, av Markus Kåhre och In the Blink of an Eye, 2017, och videoverket Run away from me now, 2018, av OLEK.

The collection – Verket’s permanent art Most of the artworks in the collection have been brought in and remained in place through Avesta Art. Others have been donated or purchased for placement in Verket. The permanent art is multifaceted, including everything from installations, video works and paintings to interactive works. But what all the artworks have in common is that they are integrated into Verket’s industrial history and environment. The permanent collection contains works by artists such as Bo Ek, Kjell Engman, Torbjörn Grass, Arijana Kajfes, Björn Lövin, Sonja Nilsson, Tomas Nordberg and Lennart Rodhe. Avesta Art 2019 also includes Untitled, 2018, by Markus Kåhre, as well as In the Blink of an Eye, 2017, and the video work Run Away from Me Now, 2018, by OLEK.
