Want to know more about whisky, too? Head to the Art Deco Hotel Montana on Lake Lucerne in Switzerland, a renovated palace hotel with breathtaking views of the city, lake and mountains. Following a four-course dinner at the hotel’s Scala restaurant, guests are handed a ‘Whisky Pass’ that entitles them to try single malts from four different Scottish distilleries in the hotel’s atmospheric jazz and whisky bar, a bottle of the hotel’s house Glen Montana from the Glenfarclas Distillery, and a copy of Whisky Time magazine. Book an Art Deco suite, or upgrade to one of the hotel’s new rooftop Penthouse suites. Alternatively, join a Master Class at the Capital Hotel and Apartments, tucked away behind Harrods in the exclusive London district of Knightsbridge. Led by Cesar, the hotel’s head barman and UK’s youngest ‘Keeper of the Quaich’, it revolves around a pairing menu in which a range of whiskies are expertly matched with a selection of British and French cheeses – a special release ‘Kilchoman’ from Islay, for example, with a nice Tomme de Savoie. You won’t be able to leave without trying the Capital’s Levin wine, produced at the French vineyard of the hotel’s owner, David Levin.

If you’re passionate about a particular type of wine (or food), ask SLH to tailor an itinerary for you.
