412 is the culmination of a collective journey taken by a group of individuals unified by their dedication to conceptual exploration and the pursuit of beauty. It attests to the vast possibilities raised by collaborative work while simultaneously retaining individual identity. Divided into different segments, 412 forges four distinctive realities—Desolate, Denude, BB, and Non Sense—that demonstrate the variety of talent cultivated in Section S over the past year at Parsons. Each narrative underwent meticulous consideration before it was captured through the lens of one of five photographers from the MFA program at the School of Visual Arts. While each story is unique in aesthetic, method, and intent, they are identical in the amount of care and consideration taken in each one’s creation.

Many thanks to Marie Genevieve and Sarah Thorn, who guided us through challenging times, and to the photographers who took the time to immortalize our respective visions: Tak Ju Kwon, Chien-Wen Lin, Michael Ortiz, Patrick Rafanan, Runxi Wang.

[dih-nood, -nyood] Strip something of its covering possessions or assets make bare. Confined by the expected, reduced by the lack of curiosity, the desire to liberate herself from the conventional aesthetic created in society; she rebels. She exists inbetween man and woman. Oppositeness brings her looks together. Un-dressing the possibilities that control her wardrobe. She brings the classic shirt and trouser to a dismantled state of dishevelment. She is exposed, uncovered; style diverging from the definitive.

She finds herself in the confines of the flats, where whiteness meets the fraying sun and

the brisk air is home. She moves with a stillness that reflects off the metallic freshness of the foil that lives beside her, a reflection of herself. She lives where the winds wind and the grounds ground and the sun suns and swiftly, she stops: a discovery. A woman on the move who packs light: a pleat, a bead, a slit, a pocket that are essential for her journey. A journey that she longed to undertake. She keeps moving farther and farther from her point of departure and into a space that bears nothing but herself. Her pleats, beads, slits, pockets continue to emerge and start to become heavy. Cold and stoic she transforms from flesh and bone into a machine, she has arrived.
