Junior School
These are the fundamental years of schooling, in which our students develop firm foundations in literacy and numeracy, as well as personal, social and emotional skills that enable them to be successful, resourceful and resilient young learners.
Incorporating the Australian Curriculum, the Junior School teaching and learning program and methodologies are based on the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), covering Humanities and Social Sciences, English, Mathematics, The Arts, Science, and Health and Physical Education. Through inquiry, action and reflection, the IB philosophy aims to develop a range of competencies and dispositions that include skills for thinking, working with others, communicating, self-management and research.
Year 6.
In addition, students engage in a variety of lessons taught by specialist teachers including Languages, Music, Technologies, Visual Arts, Physical Education, and Guided Inquiry and Research.
Our co and extra-curricular offerings are also dynamic and diverse. Through music, sport and many other activities, we encourage our girls to delve into their skills and passions.
The Year 5 Production is a major highlight, allowing our students to develop confidence as they explore acting, song and dance. Girls gain further life experience on a variety of camps and study trips aimed at building resilience and inquiry. In Year 6, students have the opportunity to take on extra responsibilities as Peer Leaders, becoming role models for our younger girls.
Our Junior School is abuzz with new classrooms, breakout spaces and a dedicated Art hub. In addition, we’ve embedded and refined a host of initiatives which have taken our teaching and learning to the next level.

The School has:
• Transformed the delivery of literacy learning.
• Expanded our Mathematics offering with more teachers and an enhanced structure.
• Established a School-funded 1:1 iPad program for Reception to Year 6 students.
• Advanced our ground-breaking Intensive Languages Program.
• Harnessed the online learning portal Canvas.
• Cemented ‘Mind Lab’ across R to 6, featuring hands-on strategy board games to support cognitive, social and emotional learning.
• Developed a bespoke R to 6 wellbeing program, incorporating evidence-based theory and practice.
As we drive the future of primary years’ education, our Junior School also builds on many rich traditions, including the sense of community it creates.
Our teachers are nurturing and supportive mentors who develop strong bonds with the girls that last throughout their schooling and beyond.
