ur hearts are full of gratitude and pride for all that has been accomplished uringthe2023-24schoolyear.Thisyear’stheme,"AllinforLove,"inspiredby1 orinthians 16:14, guided our steps as we deepened our commitment to urturing the hearts, minds, and spirits of our students. It has been a year of owth, achievement, and joyful milestones across our campus. We proudly elebrated our third graduating class of bilingual students, a powerful stament to the strength of our Spanish immersion program and the dedicationofourfaculty,families,andstudents.

We also reached a significant milestone in our school’s journey: a record enrollmentof232students,thelargestinourhistory.Witheverynewstudentand family, our community grows stronger and richer in its diversity, faith, and purpose

Inalignmentwithourmissiontoinstillaloveoflearning,joyofservice,andlively faith, we launched several initiatives that continue to shape our students' experienceinmeaningfulways:

KirtandIhavebeenmarriedsince2007Wehave twochildren,Hank(St.Peter’sClassof2020,Baylor Class of 2027) and Jessie (St Peter’s Class of 2024,BaylorClassof2031)Weareanimallovers andhave3cats,2dogs,and1fish.Ourfamilyalso attends St Peter’s Church Between school attendance, extra-curricular activities, church attendance, and volunteer positions at both churchandschool,thereisoftenatleastone memberofourfamilyoncampuseverydayof theweek.

Whyisbeingtheboardpresident importantto you?

I feel strongly that being a member of a communitylikeStPeter’sisagreatprivilege,and onethatthriveswhenmembersgivebackwith their time, talents, and treasure. I love the students, teachers, staff, administration, and churchleadership,andIamsogratefulforallthat theyhaveprovidedtomyfamilyovertheyears.I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that my children have not only been prepared for the academicchallengesofmiddleandhighschool, but that they have been deeply loved by this communityinthemostformativeyearsoftheir life.Itakemyleadershiproleontheboardvery seriouslybecauseIwanttobeabletoensurethat St Peter’scancontributetootherchildrenand familiesinthefuture.

Therearefartoomanythingstolist!Ilovethe peopleheresomuch,thoughIcannotthinkofa betterplaceforchildrentobeeveryday.Mykids have had such wonderful opportunities at St. Peter’sTheyhavebeeninvolvedincrosscountry, track, basketball, reader’s theater, peewee pep squad,cheer,lacrosse,taekwondo,andtheater productions–andI’msureI’mleavingsomething out Iamamazedbycurriculum,andhowthe teachers and support staff work together to providearichlearningenvironmentthatfosters deepengagementfrompre-schoolto5thgrade

WhataresomethingsyourchildrenhavelearnedatSt. Peter'sthatyouhopetheywillcarrywiththem?

Iknowmychildrenlearnedallofthetraditionalschool subjects–math,science,history,writing,andreading Thatisagivenwiththewonderfulteacherstheyhave had the opportunity to learn from at St. Peter’s. St. Peter's School is proud to be a part of the Tennessee Association of Independent Schools (TAIS), a valuable statewide organization dedicated to assisting educators and leaders in independentschools.

This year, our talented 4th and 5th grade teachers, Jennifer von Klar and Hannah Maounis,showcasedtheirexpertiseatthe TAIS conference hosted at St. George's IndependentSchoolinMemphis.

Throughtheirpresentations,theynotonly representedourschoolbutalsoplayeda crucialroleinadvancingtheprofessional development of our educational community.

St. Peter's School proudly partnered with The Social Institute (TSI) to provide our fourth and fifth graders with essential modern-day life skills which teaches studentsto#WINATSCHOOL.

TSI’s comprehensive lessons focus on inspiring students to make positive decisions, particularly with social media use. The program brings real-world examples from students, leaders, celebrities, and professional athletes, demonstrating high-character ways to successfully navigate the social landscape.

Wonder Night

Wonder Night is a creative event that showcases exhibits made by students.Thechildrenarefilledwithexcitementandsoeagertoshareall theyhavelearnedintheschoolyear.

This school year, it was held in February, and guests were invited to walk the hallways to experience learning in action through compassion, kindness and understanding, & where school leaders built a strong, supportivecommunitywithinSt.Peter’sSchoolandbeyondourdoors.

Wearesoproudofourstudentsfor their participation in the Perennial MathCompetition!

Congratulations to our third, fourth, and fifth grade math teams for theirachievementsinthePerennial Math Competition. Jonathan Greever, 3rd grader, earned first place in the independent contest and Buddy Himrod fifth grader, tooksecondplace.

In memory of the “Teacher in Space” mission, June founded the Challenger Center for Space Science Education to foster a new generation of “star challengers” - young people who will reach for the starsnomattertheircircumstances.

Campus Safety & Security

At St. Peter’s Episcopal School, the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff remains a top priority. This year, we continued to invest in campus-wide improvements to further strengthen our emergency preparednessandresponsecapabilities.

As part of our back-to-school inservice week, all faculty and staff participated in comprehensive safety training led by Defend Systems, a nationally recognized leader in school safety and security. This hands-on training equipped our team with critical knowledge and practical strategies to respond effectively in the event of an emergency, ensuring that every adult on campus is prepared to act quickly and confidently to protect our students.

Inaddition,wearedeeplygratefultotheSt.Peter’sParents and Teachers (SPPAT) organization for sponsoring the installation of emergency panic buttons throughout the school. These strategically placed devices provide staff withtheabilitytoquicklyalertlocalauthoritiesintheevent of a crisis, enhancing our response time and adding another vital layer of protection to our school environment.

Together, these initiatives reflect our unwavering commitment to maintaining a secure and supportive campus. We remain vigilant and proactive in our approach, knowing that a safe school is essential to a thrivinglearningcommunity.

GrandparentsandspecialfriendsplayasignificantroleintheSt.Peter’s community,enrichingthelivesofstudentswiththeirloveandwisdom.To commemorate this cherished bond, an annual celebration is held to honor the unique connection between children and their grandparents. Under the direction of Victoria Bowen, this year’s performances included Gold Dust or Bust (2nd & 3rd grade), Patterns in the Sky (Kindergarten&1stgrade),AllAboutMe,You&Us(PreK&JRK),andFindingNemo(4th&5th grade).

ShowcasingOurStudents’GrowthThroughLanguageandCulture

At St. Peter’s Episcopal School, our Spanish Immersion track is a dynamic journey that begins in early childhood and grows with students through 5th grade. From first words at age three to performing full-length plays entirely in Spanish, our students are developing into confident, bilingual, and biliterate learners.

Throughout the 2023–2024 school year, students engaged in daily instruction, storytelling, music, and hands-on projects allinSpanish.Astheyprogress, they build fluency across reading, writing, speaking, and listening while gainingadeeperappreciationforglobal cultures.

This year, students brought language learning to life on stage with Spanishlanguage productions including Pastorela (4th & 5th grade), El Mago de Oz (2nd & 3rd), Blancanieves (1st), and Humpty Dumpty (Kindergarten). These performances showcased not only their language skills but also their creativity, confidence,andloveofstorytelling.

We would like to recognize Paul Fagan for his commitment to the lacrosse program. Launching the program in the 2015-16 school year alongside Tim Chakwin, Paul has not only introduced the sport to countless students but has also imbued them with the spirit of teamwork, perseverance,andexcellence.

His faithful dedication as a coach is a testament to his love for the game and his unwavering belief in the potential of every player he mentors We are grateful to Paul for his invaluable contributions and the indelible impact he has made on our lacrosse program. Caroline Mescon ’01

Making Waves in Hollywood as a

Leading TV Production Supervisor

Caroline Mescon (St Peter’s Class of 2001) is thriving in Los Angeles as a freelance Production Supervisor, with an impressive portfolio that includes hit series like Lessons in Chemistry, Feud, and Modern Family. After graduating from The Baylor School and earning a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from Elon University in 2012, Caroline boldly moved to L.A. to pursue a career in television production. She got her start as a studio page—a highly selective and prestigious entry point into the industry—andquicklyrosethroughtheranks.

Her dedication and talent have led her to roles with Marvel, medical drama pilots, and acclaimed productions such as American Crime Story. Most recently, she served as Production Supervisor on Season Two of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix series Monsters,whichchroniclestheMenendezbrotherscase,andshecontinuestowork onthehighlyanticipatedthirdseason.

Caroline’s reputation for excellence and adaptability has made her a sought-after professional in the industry. She enjoys taking on new projects every few months, embracingeachchallengewithenthusiasmandskill.

Her passion for storytelling began at St. Peter’s, where she discovered her love for the arts through school theater productions like You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and Into the Woods. She also fondly recalls the inspiration and encouragement of herfourth-gradeteacher,Ms Mabry

KristopherKennedy(’12)isnowaseventh-gradeteacherat the Windward School in New York, where he specializes in Language Arts and Social Studies. The Windward School focuses on catering to students with dyslexia and other language-baseddisabilities

Kristopher graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South, where he pursued a double major in English and Creative Writing During his time at Sewanee, he distinguished himself as a Theatre Fellow, taking on notable roles such as Polonius in Hamlet and Benedick in Much Ado About Nothing. His academic achievements include receiving honors, distinction, and the commencement prize in English. Additionally, Kristopher's talent in Creative Writing was recognized with the prestigious Tennessee Williams Award.

BurkeMurphy(‘16)recentlygraduatedCumLaudefromThe BaylorSchoolwherehewasavarsitytrackandfieldcaptain. At Baylor, Burke was an Abshire fellow and in the Harris StanfordHonorsprogram.Additionally,hesatontheChapel Advisory Committee and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.BurkeisnowattendingElonUniversity,wherehe is a Presidential Scholar double majoring in Finance and Accountingintheadvanceddualdegreeprogram.

Brody Grant (‘15) is a 2022 graduate of Boyd Buchanan School,andiscurrentlyaSophomoreatWashington&Lee University.Brodywasrecentlyappointedtotheprestigious Williams School of Commerce, Economics & Politics Consulting Team that provides pro-bono consulting services to domestic and international businesses and non-profitorganizations.

Brody was also elected President of Washington & Lee University's Kappa Alpha Order Fraternity which was founded in 1865 and serves as the Alpha Chapter of the fraternalorganization.

Inspired by 1 Corinthians 16:14, this year’s theme was All in for Love Each day provided an opportunity to honor God by loving and serving others. Love is rooted in our mission and everything we do at St Peter’s
