I love the ethos of the band, I feel the band wants to give folk who like playing brass an opportunity to do just that and also gives community and purpose, you needn't be an accomplished player, of which I am living proof. I also enjoy the banter, and at times, if allowed, the opportunity to have an ice cream or two! P.S. Also, it is clear you never get told off for constantly being late for rehearsals #bonus Martin Welham

I joined the band in unusual circumstances during the pandemic I muddle on, enjoying the moments when the notes occasionally come good and appreciating the encouragement and help I’ve been given as a ‘mature student’. Pam Weaver

In the 1970s the Schools band tours were by bus from Stowmarket and ferry to get to Europe. One vivid memory is that every tour without fail we were warned “Don’t climb on the railings" as we arrived at the ferry. Being in the band in the 70s was life shaping in many ways. I rejoined shortly after the 50th celebration after a 35 year gap since leaving the band at 16, but never stopped playing brass as a result of being in the band Graham Brown
