Asda supports local conservation group

S

platts Abbey Wood Conservation Group has received a £500 grant from a local Asda store. The volunteer group helps maintain Splatts Abbey Wood, a small area of woodland close to the MoD complex, on the borders of Stoke Gifford and Filton, and close to Cheswick Village. David Thomas, community champion at Asda’s Filton Abbey Wood store, said: “We were absolutely delighted to be able to support this very worthwhile project through our Green Token Giving Scheme and hope that

awareness of the project in our community has been raised.” David Bell, the Splatts Abbey Wood group’s chairman said: “We are very grateful to all at Asda for their generous donation of £500. The support of the local community is important for the survival of this woodland.” The group works with others in the community such as South Gloucestershire Council, Sims Hill Community Woodland, the Students’ Union at UWE, the university itself and student volunteers. ● splattsabbeywood.org.uk
