The City of St. Louis Park recognizes the importance of recreation and the health and wellness benefits it provides to people of all ages. The city offers a program for those that live or work in St. Louis Park that may need financial assistance to participate in our recreation programs. See page 11 for details. 3

Happy summer! We have missed seeing all of you these past few months! While providing virtual programming like Park…at Home and Westwood Wednesdays has allowed us to continue to serve the community, we look forward to once again greeting you in person for recreation programming. We have been very glad to see the increased activity at our parks and on our trails as community members have sought the outdoors for stress relief and exercise. We appreciate all of your efforts to stay safe and protect those around you. Parks and recreation staff reviewed previously planned summer offerings for July and August and reworked them to help ensure the health and safety of participants and staff. We will continue to monitor program registration to meet current group gathering guidelines recommended by health authorities. If you have questions or concerns or would like to discuss the safety measures we have in place, contact Jason West, recreation supervisor, at jwest@stlouispark.org or 952.924.2554.

Parktacular canceled Due to an abundance of caution surrounding COVID-19, the 2020 Parktacular Festival will not take place Father’s Day weekend (June 17-21). We look forward to putting on a robust 2021 Parktacular Festival next year in June. We will continue working with the city throughout this difficult time. In the meantime, look for Parktacular out and about in the community, partnering with other St. Louis Park events and activities. Our mission remains the same; to bring together local businesses and citizens of all ages to encourage a spirit of pride, a sense of community and an atmosphere of celebration for all residents. Thank you all for your past support, as a sponsor, participant or attendee. We hope to see you soon! Maggie Myers Parktacular President Visit www.parktacular.org for more information.

Music Together

At Music Together, our mission is to make the world a better place by making it more musical. We bring the highest quality music and movement experiences to children, and we involve the adults who love them in the magical process of development. Our relaxed, yet focused, classes nurture children’s natural enthusiasm for music and supports them on their journey to becoming confident, lifelong music makers.

Music Together Virtual Classes Ages 0 – 6 CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT

Sing, dance, play and learn! Each online class, your teacher will lead music activities for the whole family to sing, play and jam along to show you how to make everyday items like dish towels, wooden spoons and stuffies into musical props. Even though your teacher is on a screen, each class is designed to be an active music-making experience for little ones and their grownups. You’ll receive a beautifully illustrated song book of our summer song collection, a CD and a download code to use with your awardwinning Hello Everybody app. You’ll also receive an invitation to an online community exclusively for enrolled parents that will provide at-home activities and inspiration to keep the music-making going throughout the week. You’ll receive two “musical play dates each week for eight weeks, each 25 minutes long. We’ll deliver your first play date via Zoom at your designated class time. We’ll record it and send it out later in the week along with your second mini class which will always be prerecorded. You can experience both videos as many times as you’d like!

Interpretive center project update We are excited to say that the walls are up and the new interpretive center at Westwood Hills Nature Center is taking shape! The interior finishes are being applied and the interpretive exhibits are being installed. The new interpretive center will be open for all to visit and explore in summer 2020. Join us on Sept. 13, 2 – 4:30 p.m. for the grand opening, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Come explore our 3.5 miles of trails. Beginning July 6, host a birthday party or participate in one of our summer camps. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve your Westwood Hills Nature Center facilities. Visit www.stlouispark.org/whnc/new-interpretive-center or text SLPMN WHNC to 468311 to sign up or for project updates.
