Adaptive recreation
Reach for Resources
The adaptive recreation program is a cooperative effort of Reach for Resources and the cities of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Chanhassen, Golden Valley, Maple Grove, Plymouth and St. Louis Park. Reach is an agency that serves individuals with developmental disabilities and their families in western Hennepin County and eastern Carver County. Services include adaptive recreation, independent living support, case management and counseling.
NOTE: People not living in one of the above cities are considered “non-residents” and should add $8 to select registration fees. For more information and registration procedures, call 952.393.5880 or visit www.reachforresources.org.
Inclusion support
Reach for Resources provides inclusion support to children and adults with disabilities who would like to participate in their city park and recreation programs. Registration for these programs is done through your parks and recreation division. Inclusion support through Reach is offered in the cities of Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Chanhassen, Chaska, Crystal, Golden Valley, New Hope and St. Louis Park. After registering, contact Reach for Resources to discuss the needs/accommodations for yourself or your child. Allow a minimum of two weeks’ notice for a successful inclusion. Virtual Fantasy Football Draft AGES 13+ Virtual Want to try out fantasy football? Join us for this online virtual draft we’ll be using through ESPN. You have the option of video conferencing with us as we go through the draft together, or just follow the draft on your computer, tablet or phone and make choices when it is your turn. Join the City of St. Louis Park for a ribbon-cutting Sunday, Sept. 13, at 2:30 p.m. to commemorate the opening of the new interpretive center building at Westwood Hills Nature Center. After the ribbon-cutting, enjoy a walk around the nature center trails and explore the outdoor areas.
The interpretive center will be open for self-guided tours. Visitors are required to wear face coverings inside the interpretive center and maintain physical distancing in outdoor areas.

Go the Distance MN 50K, 100K and 150K challenge ALL AGES During the height of quarantine, we brought you the Stay Strong Minnesota 50K challenge and had a great response of people staying motivated during that challenging time. We want to keep the active momentum going with a fun fall challenge! This time around we are turning it up a notch, and you can choose to participate in a 50K (31 miles), 100K (62 miles) or 150K (93 miles) – Go the Distance MN! The challenge will run from Oct. 1 – 31. An activity log will be available to download when you register. Challengers may participate for free, or they can choose to pay a fee and receive a commemorative medal and buff.
