What is the purpose of CCSS implementation? St. Joseph’s Common Core State Standards will be used to prepare teachers and students for the implementation of national standards through the curriculum writing process. This foundation will lead to an increased instructional focus for several areas and the need for professional development within those critical components. A focus on Common Core State Standards will also provide alignment with impending assessment improvements in the coming years. However, regardless of the state assessment, the movement to CCSS provides the opportunity for St. Joseph to increase rigor, college and career readiness and technology literacy for 21st century learners. What are the benefits of CCSS? * Focus on student outcomes * Focus on college and career anchor standards * More detailed work on standards * Curriculum content team collaboration * District-wide alignment of curriculum scope and sequence * Efficiency of resources
