Coach Albertson is entering his first season as the JV Head Coach. He graduated from St. Johns in 2004 as a two sport all league captain in both soccer and lacrosse. Coach attended St. Mary’s College in Southern Maryland, where he studied English and was a two sport captain as well. He earned All-American honors in Lacrosse. Cyrus lives in Tenleytown, Washington D.C.
Phil Finelli JUNIOR VARSITY ASSISTANT Coach Finelli is entering his first year with the St. John’s coaching staff as the Junior Varsity assistant coach. He joins the staff after graduating in 2010 with a degree in Health Exercise Sports Science with a focus in Education from the Citadel Military College of South Carolina. He was a 4-year player and captain for the Bull Dog’s Lacrosse team while playing attack and midfield. He attended Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Class of 2006, where he played lacrosse under Coach Phillips. Coach Finelli currently works for Fitness Together as a personal trainer and resides in Bethesda Maryland.
Seasons Coaching lax at St. John’s: 6 High School: St. John’s (DC) College: Catholic University. A 1997 graduate of St. John’s, Coach Benjamin has served the lacrosse program in numerous roles. Coach Benjamin will continue his current role as a Junior Varsity assistant coach. As a player, Coach Benjamin was a crease defensemen at St. John’s and at the Catholic University of America. Coach Benjamin was Co-Captain of the St. John’s Varsity Lacrosse program during his senior season, and was named to the ECAC All-Academic team his Junior year at Catholic University. Also a coach for the St. John’s football team, Coach Benjamin led the freshman team to a 19-4 record over three years. After graduating from Catholic University, he received his master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University. Coach Benjamin was formerly a teacher at SJC’s San Miguel Middle School and is in his fifth year as a history teacher at St. John’s. Coach Benjamin lives in Rockville with his wife, Kim, and his daughter, Kelsey (class of 2025).
