Kiera
In times of darkness, may your heart remain pure.
Gender: Female Age: 110 years old Personality: Aloof but observant, elusive, mysterious Born on another planet, Kiera was raised and trained as a warrior to fulfill her destiny on Earth as Guardian and Saviour. Upon arriving on Earth, she took the form of a white wolf, a crescent marked on her forehead as symbol of her otherworldly powers. She hides and works in the shadows, protecting vulnerable humans and lending aid to other heroes; however, her powers are unlike others, no match for others. She mostly wanders and works alone; her burden is hers alone. Throughout the decades, she has loved and lost many in battles, but despite those painful memories and demons, she keeps kindness and love in her heart.

Making of:
Character Creation The creation of Kiera started as a project based around a series of silhouette sketches. On the surface, she looks like the average wolf; it is really her facial features that give way to her personality. The end result was a combination of different design aspects. Through Adobe Illustrator, a vector image was created. Eventually, the image was further refined to include an environment.

Making of:
Storyboard The storyboard is a series of movement created through manipulation of the vector image in Adobe Illustrator. This maps out the basic motion frames. The image is then imported into Adobe Photoshop where the frames are then animated through frame timing and durations. With the overlay of additional video effects and audio, an environment was created for the character. The goal was to create a simple movement that portrays the character’s elegance, and yet, communicate her mysterious nature through environment.

Warrior in the Shadow Genre: Action/Sci-fi Audience: Rated R Kiera was trained all her life on how to fight and survive, a hardened warrior prepared to take on the role of Guardian and Saviour of the fragile planet Earth. Born on another planet, she was sent to Earth and took the form of a white wolf in order to watch the humans from afar. For centuries, she hid alone and worked in the shadows, aiding other heroes. Until one day came a threat, a foe proved to be of match with her. Now, she struggles to accept the aid of others in return, and eventually, lead a team of heroes devoted to her cause.

Making of:
Movie Poster The making of the movie poster was a process of drafting several poster compositions. A few sample posters were designed with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to get more solid visual ideas before a final design was selected to be refined.

The Experience Creating this series of projects has been very fun, positive, and inspiring. I have used Adobe Photoshop for years but have never learned properly how to use the program. Furthermore, I learned a vast amount in learning about using Illustrator and InDesign. Before this, I had hit quite a few years of a creative block. But having projects that were flexible and allowed students to really create their own work, created a very immersive and inspiring learning experience. The story of Kiera is one that had began in my head years ago. It’s possible that I continue to develop her story, and perhaps even pursue a novel for her. I would also like to continue to develop other artworks and characters, as well as build a website for all of my art and potential business.

I am an artist and a hairstylist, who have many crafty hobbies such as embroidering, sewing, and making cosplays.
