The Best Among the Rest STI’s cream of the crop was once again recognized during the annual search for the STI Student of the Year and Most Outstanding Thesis Award held on April 26, 2013 and April 5, 2013, respectively, at the STI Academic Center Global City. Hundreds of students vie for these two distinguished awards every year. The much-coveted Student of the Year award acknowledges the students who have excelled within and outside the STI academic community. For this year, Sherwin Niño Macalintal, a BS Computer Engineering student from STI College – Southwoods, topped the list in the Baccalaureate category while Associate in Computer Technology student Rachel
The Most Outstanding Thesis Award, on the other hand, is a program-based national award given to a group of graduating students with an exceptional and innovative thesis project. From numerous entries throughout the STI network, two theses stood out and impressed the judges the most. The BS Computer Science students from STI College – Parañaque wowed the judges with their 3D Adventure Game on Philippine Treasure: The Golden Tara. Cloyd Martin Hermano, Rafael Madelo, Resty Rosita, and Venjo Villeza conceptualized and designed the 3D game that also incorporated some of the renowned tourist spots in the country. Students from STI College – Balagtas also got the nod from the judges with their LTO Bulacan Electronic Traffic Ticketing System (LTO BulacanETTS). The consolidated efforts of BS Computer Engineering students Carlo Bondoc, Robin dela Cruz, and Jose Mari Limon aims to help speed up the process of ticket issuance to traffic violators and likewise the tracking of violations in real time. Congratulations to all the winners for their welldeserved recognitions!
