Steve and Julie French, Little Cedar Cattle Co.: We first met Héctor Mario Eyherabide and his family in 2008. Meeting again almost every year in Denver, we recognized that he and his son Francisco have our same passion for Shorthorns, and shared beliefs in the fundamentals of breeding functionally efficient and profitable beef cattle. Both of us still recall our first impression of photos of the tremendously muscular Shorthorn bulls Cabaña Santa Cecilia sells – close to 1,000 Shorthorn bulls each year – to Argentine commercial ranchers. There are NO Shorthorn bulls like them in the United States! In 2014, when offered a partnership in two exceptional full sisters bred by Héctor Mario, we jumped at the new venture, and traveled to Palermo to see Elvira and Potranca show. The cattle culture of Argentina, the superior individuals in all the beef breeds, and the energy of the event was enthralling! We were warmly engaged by the most influential Argentine cattle breeders, as guests of a man they clearly respect. We observed, asked questions, and absorbed the greatness of the Argentine beef cattle industry. In September of 2014, Jimmy and Selena McGuire, South River Genetics, invested in the special “Argentine Genetics Opportunity” offered in the Revival Sale. The ARG Partnership mated the sisters to two well-known, powerful, high performance Argentine sires, Alston Polar Star and his son Roosmo Matias Star. Now, in offering half ownership of one of these females, we are sharing our passion and vision of Cabaña Santa Cecilia’s unique Argentine genetics, and the positive, lasting impact they will surely make on the Shorthorn breed in the U.S.A. 21
