When professional golfer Morgan Pressel was paired with sports marketing executive Andrew Bush for a pro-am golf tournament, she never could have imagined that her handsome teammate would one day become her partner for life. But that’s just what happened when the duo exchanged vows during a lavish three-day affair in sunny Palm Beach. Selecting a venue to host their nuptials came naturally for the bride. “Growing up in South Florida it was always a dream to get married at The Breakers,” she says. The groom affirms that the size, scope, and flexibility of the historic resort contributed to the success of their occasion. “We had six different functions in six different locations throughout The Breakers, giving our guests many different experiences over the weekend,” he states. The wedding day itself began with a bedeken ceremony during which the couple signed a ketubah in front of their families and bridal party. Next, guests gathered in a stunning ballroom that had been transformed with violet uplighting and majestic drapery for the ceremony. The flowers which lined the aisle, as well as those that adorned the towering chuppah, were arranged by color so that soft snowy white blooms gradually transitioned into a rich plum hue, creating a striking ombré effect. The bride was a vision in a breathtaking lace ball gown that featured a sweetheart neckline and a floral motif. Her blonde locks were swept into a tight updo while a cathedral veil trailed gracefully behind. She carried a cascading bouquet of roses and orchids in lilac and ivory tones, while bridesmaids carried nosegays in lavender to complement their royal purple gowns. Morgan was escorted down the aisle by her grandparents, which she comments was a very special moment for her.

The traditional Jewish service, officiated by a rabbi who had married every couple in the bride’s family for the past three decades, was both personal and poignant. Cousins of the bride shared their gift of song as the couple circled each other, a custom symbolizing their commitment to one another. During another particularly moving moment, the duo paid tribute to those who were no longer with them, including the bride’s own mother. “It brought me to tears not to have her there on our special day,” she recalls. Inclement weather forced the cocktail hour

indoors, but guests enjoyed a delicious array of hors d’oeuvres and libations regardless. Moving into the reception hall, a blend of florals – hydrangeas, lisianthus, carnations, roses, and orchids – were arranged in glass vessels of various heights, dependent on their hue and the table on which they stood to continue the ombré effect. Tabletops were draped in gunmetal-grey linens while pewter charger plates marked each diner’s place setting. Two large trees adorned with blossoms and hanging candles stood at the corners of the dance floor.

“At the end of the day, nobody remembers the flowers or even the food. They remember if they had a great time.”

The design on the stark white wedding cake was an exact replica of the detail on Morgan’s dress. Two adorable penguin toppers that rested on the uppermost layer mimicked the cakepop favors designed by a friend of the bride and presented to guests at the end of the night. While the bride and groom fondly remember walking into the room for the first time as husband and wife, as well as nailing their first dance (for which they took weeks of lessons), it was the presence of their friends and family from around the country who had joined them in celebration that remains the highlight of the night. “Our goal was to make sure our guests had the best time, and we accomplished that with the fantastic band and a great bar,” says the groom. The bride, a self-confessed perfectionist, reports being pleasantly surprised at her ability to enjoy everything from start to finish. “I thought I would be much more worried on my wedding day and not be able to fully relax, but I had more fun than I ever thought possible!” Indeed, it may not have been the bright sunny day she was hoping for, and the waitstaff may have accidentally cleared her slice of cake before she had a chance to eat it, but the bride nevertheless insists ALISON BONN her wedding was absolutely flawless.
