Rendered Floorplan The project was to create a four star hotel in the country assigned using the country for inspiration and style, using local materials and staying true to their culture. The lobby connects to the restaurant, they must have a different feel and should represent the chosen country. The more modern buildings show where Dubai has built their country up from the desert. With theirvery hot climates and not a lot of landscaping, Shelik Hotel will bring life to the beautiful Gulf of Omen. Bringing more of the natural aspect into Shelik Hotel shows the more colorful life that Dubai has that is not reflected in the desert but in the color and flow of the waves.

The project was to create a four star restaurant in the country assigned using the country for inspiration and style. Use local materials and stay true to their culture. Dance provides a fun interaction between all the locals in Dubai, as well as providing a way for the tourists to enjoy their culture. The flow of the dresses and the fun colors will also bring the atmosphere of the group to Shelik Restaurant. The more subdued atmosphere will bring everything together to enjoy the variety of culture in the food.

Merlet Center The Merlet Center for Women is inspired by the movie "Sin City," and the hibiscus flower. The structure of the center is inspired by the movie, using bright pops of color to reflect the mood of each section of the center. Its shape is based off of a hibiscus flower, the national flower of Haiti. Its petals will extend past the exterior walls and go into the ground for stability in both earthquakes and monsoons. Ultimately, the Merlet Center for Women will help the women of Haiti to blossom into strong, confident individuals, able to care for themselves, and not be at the mercy of the men in their lives.

Barr Residence Tom and Nancy Barr live in Libertyville, Illinois and winter in Palm Springs California. The home is in the up-scale historic Vista Las Palmas and expresses mid-century modern design. The client has requested a new interior design that is sensitive to mid-century modern. They are looking for a completely new kitchen, sliding doors, and more functional office space, a casitia-guest house, a competely new backyard. This project was to create an up-scale Mid-century modern home for the Barr Family. This design will invoke nature inspired forms, with contrasting wood tones, and sustainable materials. The home will bring the inside out, creating a more open space, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright and how his homes are open to nature.

The Pieces Museum

First Floor Plan

The project was to create a museum inspired by an architect using their projects for inspiration and create a building that would seem like they built it themselves and the interior showcases their work. The Pieces Museum is inspired by Renzo Piano and will invoke his style to show his work. The Pieces Museum is symmetrical with a mix of glass, metal, and wood. The glass roof is to reflect the light in interesting ways.

Nesting Collection

The project was to create a furniture collection. One strong cardboard chair that has to be 75% cardboard, and a furniture piece made of birch plywood that needs to be sanded, stained, and finished. The Nesting collection is to make you feel as if nature is in your home. This inspiration came from a tree with the sunlight beaming through the branches and leaves creating unique shapes and shadows.
