CONCEPT
Delta faucets wanted students to design a hand-held shower head for a specified user group. The categories were tool time, pets, people, and outdoors.
I chose the people persona from the hat. After conducting user research, I specified elderly people that use walk-in showers as my official user.
Through my market, user, and trend research, I found multiple problems with existing walk-in shower faucets. Not only was it difficult to use the shower head provided, but it also made a mess.
Mock-ups helped provide insight to ergonomics and user centered design. I was able to do user testing to prove which design felt most comfortable to use for the consumer.
The final concept includes a ribbed, rubber handle for easy grip; downward facing nozzles for less mess; and a hooked shape to form to the user’s body.
