Keynote Presentation Escape Velocity: Free Your Company’s Future from the Pull of the Past Geoffrey Moore, best-selling author, Chairman Emeritus at TCG and a venture partner at MDV In this high-energy lecture, Geoffrey Moore discusses how companies can build the escape velocity necessary to move beyond the successes and failures of the past. Moore argues that when companies focus too much on performance, they miss out on building the power to become the industry leaders that other companies envy. He shares a hierarchy model through which companies can examine and build power, and examines how product teams can best work to differentiate their company, neutralize the competition, and optimize products and offers.

Consumer Products Customer Story Kohler Global Faucets: Complete Bill of Material Inventory Optimization in a Global Manufacturing Company Jason Arnhoelter, Senior Project Analyst, Materials – Global Faucets Supply Chain, Kohler Prior to using SmartOps Enterprise Inventory Optimization (EIO), the Global Faucets business set safety stock only at a regional Finished Good level to accommodate their large product offering. This approach worked, but often times it caused Kohler to carry too much inventory. Due to fluctuations in the current housing market and economic environment, it has become essential for Kohler to improve working capital while maintaining or improving delivery to the end customer. This session will provide insight into how Kohler implemented EIO globally to optimize inventory targets at all stages of the bill of material leading to improved cash flow.

Sales & Operations Planning – Where is the “I” for Inventory?

Simon Tunmore, Senior Sales Director, SmartOps Mike Huizinga, Solution Consultant, SmartOps

You go into the meeting knowing inventory control, you come out with a new way of thinking, along with empowerment to make your company better. — Susan Thorson McCain Foods

Sales & Operations Planning is an integrated business process through which the executive/leadership team continually drives focus, alignment and synchronization across all functions of an organization. Alignment of product planning with demand, supply, and the financial forecast is critical to ensuring operationally efficiency. The question often asked is ’Where is the “I” for Inventory in this critical business process?’ For most organizations the dollars tied up in inventory are significant and the costs associated with holding inventory are large. Therefore, we would argue that inventory planning and management is critical to an efficient well run supply chain and should be tracked in a Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning process (SI&OP). SmartOps has been working to develop new capabilities not only to manage the “I” better, but, given our application footprint, to be able to support an integrated SI&OP process. During the sessions we will explore: • The evolution of S&OP processes • How SmartOps intelligence and analytic modules provide critical insight into improving demand and supply planning processes • How the new SmartOps Inventory Performance Management (IPM) solution could extend to drive a comprehensive SI&OP process

Are You Targeting the Right Customer Service Levels? Atul Bhandari, Manager, Algorithms, SmartOps Organizations are increasing their focus on supply chain as a key enabler of top level corporate strategy and performance. Companies set service level policies and measure supply chain performance using aggregated metrics such as “volume fill rate” and “order fill rate” across the entire supply chain. Setting inventory targets requires granular, volume-based service level targets at the item, location, and customer level. Traditionally, these specific service levels have been set based on simple rules-of-thumb or ABC classifications around the corporate objective. Over the past decade, SmartOps Enterprise Inventory Optimization has demonstrated sustainable value by helping companies reduce working capital requirements while ensuring customer service level targets are met. As a next step, in order to unlock the path to profitable customer order fulfillment, SmartOps’ Service Level Optimization provides the ability to optimize customer service levels while ensuring that the aggregate corporate goals are met. Join us as we unveil SmartOps’ innovative scientific approach for enabling order-based service level metrics and view our analytics around customer order intelligence.
