23/3/2012 - 31/5/2013 “ART AND MATHEMATICS: FROM THE AESTHETICS OF ART TO THE LOGIC OF MATHEMATICS” «ΤΕΧΝΗ & ΜΑΘΗΜΑΤΙΚΑ: ΑΠΟ ΤΗΝ ΑΙΣΘΗΤΙΚΗ ΤΗΣ ΤΕΧΝΗΣ ΣΤΗ ΛΟΓΙΚΗ ΤΩΝ ΜΑΘΗΜΑΤΙΚΩΝ» Herakleidon Museum presents an exhibition of works by M.C. Escher and V. Vasarely, from its permanent collections. The exhibition does not have a closing date, however the works on display will be periodically renewed. The works were chosen along the theme of “Art and Mathematics”, a ‘gate’ that the Museum Herakleidon opened when it was founded in 2004 and that it holds wide open, both for the general public and the education community. The first floor of the museum is dedicated to the exhibition of works by the French painter, of Hungarian descent, Victor Vasarely (1906-1997), universally recognized as the father of Op-Art. Twenty-five of his serigraphs will be on display. The second floor of the exhibition is dedicated to the work of the Dutch print maker and graphic artist Maurits Cornelis Escher (18981972). Approximately forty prints from the museum’s collection will be on display.
Το Μουσείο Ηρακλειδών παρουσιάζει από 23 Μαρτίου 2012, έκθεση επιλεγμένων από τις συλλογές του έργων, των καλλιτεχνών MC. Escher και V. Vasarely. Η έκθεση δεν έχει καταληκτική ημερομηνία, αλλά τα έργα θα ανανεώνονται περιοδικά. Η επιλογή των έργων έγινε με άξονα τη θεματική «Τέχνη και Μαθηματικά», μία ‘πύλη’ που άνοιξε το Μουσείο Ηρακλειδών από την ίδρυσή του, το 2004, και πλέον κρατά ορθάνοιχτη τόσο για το ευρύ κοινό όσο και για την εκπαιδευτική κοινότητα. Ο τομέας του α’ ορόφου του μουσείου είναι αφιερωμένος στον Γάλλο ζωγράφο, ουγγρικής καταγωγής, Victor Vasarely (1906-1997), αδιαμφισβήτητο ηγέτη της Op-Art. Παρουσιάζονται είκοσι-πέντε έργα μεταξοτυπίας. Ο τομέας του β’ ορόφου του μουσείου είναι αφιερωμένος στον Ολλανδό χαράκτη και γραφίστα Maurits Cornelis Escher (18981972), με την παρουσίαση περίπου σαράντα έργων χαρακτικής από τη συλλογή του μουσείου.

Learn what exactly was classical Greece’s contribution to mathematics, art, and philosophy and how all this formed the basis for the Renaissance and the developments of the modern world. Included in the program: A) Presentation of the most important mathematical and philosophical issues of Ancient Greece and their influence on art. B) Introduction to the art of the Renaissance and its relation to the mathematics and philosophy of the time. C) Introduction to modern art and its relation to scientific discoveries and the corresponding philosophical schools of thought. D) Guided tour – analysis of the exhibited works from the museum’s
collections of M.C. Escher and Victor Vasarely, two artists whose work holds a strong mathematical and philosophical interest. The entire presentation is conducted in the form of a dialogue, with the active engagement of the participants. Γ) Γνωριμία με την Αναγεννησιακή Τέχνη και τη σχέση της με τη Φιλοσοφία και τα Μαθηματικά της αντίστοιχης περιόδου. Δ) Εισαγωγή στη Μοντέρνα Τέχνη και τη σχέση της με τις επιστημονικές ανακαλύψεις και τα αντίστοιχα φιλοσοφικά ρεύματα. Όλη η παρουσίαση γίνεται σε πλαίσιο διαλόγου και ενεργής συμμετοχής των συμμετεχόντων με παράλληλη προβολή σχετικού οπτικοακουστικού υλικού και χρήση διαδραστικών εκθεμάτων. Τιμή κατ’ άτομο: 25€.
