NORTHWEST PASSAGE
1940-1942
The historic schooner is preserved as a museum vessel, becoming part of the Vancouver Maritime Museum in 1960. It was the first ship to completely circumnavigate North America, and the second sailing vessel to complete a voyage through the Northwest Passage. Crew member Sgt. Fred S. Farrar wrote a book about the ship entitled “Arctic Assignment: The Story of the St. Roch”. which was published posthumously in 1955.
