Your vote on roads By Andrew Cantwell and Jessica Anstice You've nominated roads for our congestion poll, you've voted and results are clear - Clyde Road is the worst congestion road in the City of Casey by a long mile - and also takes the title as the worst congestion road in the South East. But it's by no means the only congestion road in Casey, with Soldiers Road, Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road and Thompsons Road receiving strong nominations, with Kangan Drive, Hall Road and Evans Road receiving dishonourable mentions. The poll result is the latest weapon in our campaign to highlight the state of congested South East roads in the lead-up to the State Election on 24 November. Over the past few months we've asked you to share the frustrations of your daily commute, and to participate in the poll. "We already have major upgrades underway that will relieve the pressure on each of these roads," Labor Member for Narre Warren North
and Minster for Roads Luke Donnellan said. "We're removing the dangerous and congested level crossing on Clyde Road in Berwick, widening Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road from two to four lanes and, as part of the $711 Monash Freeway Upgrade Stage Two, we're extending O'Shea Road, from Soldiers Road so it connects to the Beaconsfield interchange. "Compare this to the Liberals who, when last in power, didn't get a single major infra-
structure project done, cut train services, slashed roads spending and sacked 450 people from VicRoads." Liberal candidate for Narre Warren South Susan Serey said, "The Liberals already have a strong record of road investment, including duplication of Hallam Road and Narre WarrenCranbourne Road. "As a local councillor, resident and local Liberal candidate, I know more needs to be done. "I am proud to be part of Matthew Guy's team which has a plan to get back in control of traffic congestion and our clogged outdated roads." Liberal has committed to invest $130m to duplicate Berwick-Cranbourne Road, complete the Beaconsfield interchange and the extension of O'Shea Road to connect with the Beaconsfield interchange and to make improvements to Thompsons Road to ensure local traffic congestion eases. Ms Serey said she is "fighting for improvement to Clyde Road and Soldiers Road".

More help for mums By Jessica Anstice Mums and dads in Casey will get access to the information, support and care they and their baby needs, with new parenting centres, more maternal child health nurses and round-theclock support to help get their babies to sleep. If Labor is re-elected they will invest $232 million in a comprehensive package of new parent and early childhood supports for every Victorian family. The investment will build a new Early Parenting Centre in Casey, and deliver a range of critical services, including day stays, longer residential stays and more support at home. The centre will support around 690 families a year. This centre will play a critical role in making sure new parents are getting the advice they need, including support with sleeping, feeding and extra care for babies with additional needs. Labor will fund a revamped 24-hour phone line with specialists in sleep and settling issues and will also boost the number of home visits for vulnerable families, with 7000 families getting more support. "There are so many expectations on new parents these days," Member for Narre Warren North Luke Donnellan said. "It's why we'll make sure parents in Narre Warren get the support they need, in the moments they need it most." Labor's new family package will also provide first aid training to around 26,000 parents per year. Also, if re-elected they'll legislate to replace the payroll tax exemption for maternity leave with an exemption for all paid parental leave. Labor will boost the number of parent group sessions for first time mums and dads by 40 per cent, with the extra sessions at convenient times for both parents, focussing on sleep and the transition to parenthood. Labor candidate for Narre Warren South Gary Maas said that this package means more nurses, more support and greater peace of mind for mums and dads across Narre Warren South. Labor candidate for Cranbourne Pauline Richards said, "Sleep and settling is one of the biggest challenges facing parents. This investment will make sure parents get the support they need."
Labor promises bowls club boost A re-elected Labor Government will deliver a boost to the Narre Warren Bowls Club, paving the way for new change rooms and all-weather bowls. Member for Narre Warren North Luke Donnellan announced that they will contribute $500,000 towards a light-weight, translucent canopy over the Narre Warren Bowls Club, so that the greens can operate rain, hail or shine. Labor's investment will also go towards ad-
ditional projects on the club's to-do list, which includes upgrading change room facilities to meet current standards for disabled access. This investment builds on the $150,000 Labor has already delivered for the Narre Warren Bowls Club for a new synthetic green. The new, synthetic green is cheaper and easier for the club to maintain, removing the time and expense of tending to a grass green.
The synthetic green together with a canopy will ensure that Narre Warren bowlers can have rinks available every day of the year. "Clubs like Narre Warren Bowls Club are the cornerstones of local communities - that's why we're backing this great local club to build even better facilities for its members," Member for Narre Warren North Luke Donnellan said.
Labor's investment will build a new Early Parenting Centre in Casey, and deliver a range of critical services, including day stays, longer residential stays and more support at home.
