CELEBRATING HOLMWOOD'S NEW EXTENSION

Celebrating care for aged Holmwood Aged Care has been providing care and accommodation to the local community for nearly 40 years and now has a brand new extension. The extension opened on Monday 6 August and can easily accommodate an additional 40 residents in comfort and style. The new facilities have taken over 18 months to build and adjoins the existing home. The extension is split level with residential rooms and living on the upper level offering views of distance mature trees. The new building has been designed to encompass indoor-outdoor living so that residents can continue to enjoy the country surrounds. A key feature is the expansive outdoor terrace with seating. The building is set amongst neighbouring trees and there is a walking path. The high ceilings and large glass windows overlooking the terrace help to create a sense of openness, space and flow through the home. The central coffee hub provides a meeting point for residents and their family and friends to enjoy a cuppa and chat. The new residential rooms include a private ensuite bathroom, flat screen TV, built in wardrobe and face either a landscaped courtyard or gardens. Most of the rooms have their own outdoor patio area. There is a choice of single or double rooms so couples can stay together. There is also an impressive new entrance with a gas fire, a hairdressing salon, lounge and dining area, private dining room, coffee hub, activities room, separate sitting area, landscaped courtyard and an expansive outdoor terrace. Facility Manager Rachael Beever believes the new extension 'looks superb.' "We have created a wonderful atmosphere

"There is a strong focus on caring for residents and ensuring they feel at home and have a sense of community. We care for residents like we would our own family members with the respect and dignity they deserve. We look forward to welcoming new residents to their new home". Holmwood Aged Care provides permanent residential accommodation for seniors who are no longer able to stay in their own home.

"It is a safe, nurturing and engaging environment where residents can enjoy feeling part of a community and the companionship of others," Ms Beever said. There is also respite available (short-term accommodation that provides an organised, temporary break both for carers and the person they care for).
