SPECIAL CHARGE SCHEME
AFC CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MATCH AT SIMONDS STADIUM
COLAC ROAD, HIGHTON SATURDAY 15 FEBRUARY The City gives notice it is proposing to declare special charges at its meeting on Tuesday 25 March 2014 or subsequent meeting for the purposes of defraying expenses relating to the construction of a footpath in Colac Road north side from the Ring Road to South Valley Road, Highton.
Simonds Stadium will host AFC Champions League match: 5:30pm
Gates Open:
The total estimated cost of the works is $286,851 and the special charge to be levied by Council is estimated at $42,118.
Match Commences: 7:45pm
The details of the proposed declaration and cost estimate may be inspected at the City of Greater Geelong, 100 Brougham Street, Geelong, during office hours.
Match Concludes:
9:30pm (pending match result and extra time requirements)
The distribution of charges between property owners is based on the frontage of the property to the works.
TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE
The estimated amounts are shown in the following table.
For approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of the AFC Champions League Match, temporary road closures will be in place, in the following locations:

Any person may lodge a written submission by 5.00pm Monday 10 March 2014, which will be considered in accordance with Section 223 of the Local Government Act 1989.
Objections and submissions must be mailed to the City of Greater Geelong Engineering Design Unit PO Box 104 Geelong VIC 3220.

Any person who will be required to pay the special charge can object to the proposed declaration in writing by 5.00pm Monday 10 March 2014. Any person who is an occupier is entitled to exercise a right of objection if documentary evidence is submitted which shows that it is a condition of the lease under which the person occupies the property, that the occupier is to pay the special charge.

Once the work is completed, Council may vary the special charge to recover actual costs. The special charge remains in place until costs have been recovered.

Registrations are now open for Clean Up Australia Day. This is your chance to help clean up your local park, beach or creek.
CENTRAL GEELONG STREET ACTIVITIES
Limited paid public parking may be available within Kardinia Park at a fee of $10.00 per car. Parking is available as follows:

Individuals and local groups can either choose their own site to clean up or volunteer at an existing site.
As part of the Central Geelong Street Activities Project we are seeking a range of talented street performers; visual artists, musicians, dancers in addition to our current team of street performers. Performances and activities are scheduled weekdays between 10.00am – 3.00pm If you are a professional musician / performer and feel you meet the criteria, please contact Shelley McKiernan via email smckiernan@geeelongcity.vic.gov.au to arrange an audition

CHANGED TRAFFIC CONDITIONS
All your group needs to do is: • Select the site you are going to clean up.
• Register the site and your group details on the website www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au or phone 1800 282 329. You will be sent a free Clean Up Kit including gloves and bags by Clean Up Australia. If you do not belong to a group all you need to do is visit the website www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au to locate a Clean Up site in your area. Then simply turn up on the day with gloves, sturdy shoes, sunglasses and sun protection and sign-on as a volunteer.
ROAD WORKS REPLACEMENT OF ASPHALT MOORABOOL STREET SOUTH GEELONG SUNDAY 9 FEBRUARY TO WEDNESDAY 12 FEBRUARY 5.00PM TO 7.00AM Detours in place for replacement of road asphalt on Moorabool Street, South Geelong between Barwon Terrace and Barrabool Road. There will be limited access and no street parking from 5.00pm to 7.00am. We will endeavour to minimise any disruptions to residents and businesses while surfacing works are undertaken. If you have any queries on the day of construction, please speak to the work crew who will let you know when full access will resume. Please park your car in your driveway, so that it is clear of the work area.

Work not carried out due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances will be rescheduled, usually the following day.
