The STAR Management Week holds something for everyone. This year’s theme is based on the three pillars of the STAR management week, which are Academic, Career and Social.
ACADEMIC
The purpose of this type of event is to get inspired by the stories of successful entrepreneurs, C-level managers, sportsmen and kinds of topics related to the modern-day business environment. You will get the opportunity to find out which business areas are worth pursuing and discover which topics intrigue you the
most. Furthermore you get to sit across the table from high-profile executives and discuss trending topics or ask critical questions about any past achievements.

During the career activities you will meet many firms in either formal or informal settings. Looking for an internship, a traineeship or an entry-level position? The wine tasting is one of the most anticipated social events during the STAR Management Week. While tasting different types of wine, there will be an explanation about their origin and taste. All this while eating a complimentary dish with each wine at Trattoria Sophia. Last year this evening was a great success and we have no doubts that it will be amazing once again. The Opening Ceremony will end with a networking drink and the event will be an afternoon to remember!
HONORARY DISCUSSIONS
NOVEMBER 2ND 12:00 - 17:00 + NETWORKING DRINK KEILEPAND
This year the 11th edition of our well-known Honorary Discussions will take place. This event is the perfect opportunity for you to share your perceptions on various topics such as Business Ethics and CSR, with 40 Honorary Guests and your fellow students. During the Honorary Discussions, 40 inspiring speakers from the top of the business and other fields of expertise will debate with 80 RSM students about relevant and interesting (business) topics. Since the table setting varies in each of the three rounds, you will speak with many different guests and fellow students. Each of the three discussion rounds will be introduced by an inspiring keynote speaker. The event will start with lunch and end with a networking drink where you get the chance to network with the Honorary Guests and your fellow students in an informal setting.

The 37th edition of the STAR Management Week introduces a new speaker’s event. Speakers coming from a wide variety of both business and non-business related sectors get the opportunity to inspire the next generation with their stories.
During this event a diverse group of speakers share their stories on topics they are passionate about in an intimate theatre setting. There will be five rounds of around 15 minute speeches. After every speech there will be the possibility to ask questions. The Talent Talks will end with a networking drink, where you can socialize with and meet inspiring speakers, and engage with fellow students.

INTERNATIONAL ACADEMIC EVENT
The International Academic Event is an academic event in which a group of around 25 students gets the opportunity to travel abroad and visit a partner university of RSM and two companies. This trip aims to inspire students, who are the business leaders of the future. The students get the opportunity to learn more about international oriented companies and how these businesses operate on a daily basis.
For this year’s International Academic Event we are going to Berlin, Germany. During this 3-day trip we will visit ESMT (European School of Management and Technology GmbH) in Berlin, visit the Amazon Berlin office, and explore the city. If you want to be a part of this trip, then definitely join the International Academic Event.

WOMEN IN BUSINESS BRAND BUILDING BY THE
BRAND MEDuring this master class (female) students will learn how to strengthen their personal leadership skills. Students will learn how to develop a strong personal brand as women in business. A personal brand comprising both one’s success stories and what your unique selling points are. This will ultimately enlarge your visibility by strategically positioning yourself in the labor market. After participating in this workshop you will be able to confidently show up as who you are and make an impact.
PITCH TRAINING BY DE KLEINE CONSULTANT
What is a pitch? And how can it help your career? During a one-hour pitch training two of our consultants will answer these questions in an interactive manner. As a future business(wo)man you’ll only get one chance to make a good first impression, whether this is for a future job interviewer, a client or your boss. In the first half of the training the consultants will discuss the substance of a good pitch as well as the verbal and non-verbal aspects. In the second half of the training specific examples will be given for different scenarios and your own pitching skills will be tested.
CASE SOLVING BY CASE CLUB
By taking part in the RSM STAR Case Club Training, participants can expect to fully learn how to crack a case from A to Z. We will show you a typical case that you might come across in either your studies, or at an international competition, and take you through the entire solving process! This includes the initial analysis, building the solution, as well as presenting your solution to the judges. The training will be delivered by various Case Club board members, as well as alumni working in top-tier firms around the world. We will also use this as an opportunity to look for potential case club members, and potentially even invite those suitable to the January interview rounds. We hope to see you there!
NETWORKING MASTERCLASS BY ALUMNI STORIES
Tired of not knowing what to do during all those networking events? It’s your chance to learn how to be a networking superstar! Take your chance to attend this unique session where you will learn the 5 rules of networking, and use your networking skills to get your dream job. You will learn, by practicing, how to enter and exit conversations gracefully, how and when to follow up and how to be remembered after an event.
E-ASSESSMENT BY HELLOTEST
Almost every company participating in the SMW requires you to take an assessment when applying for a job. To give you an idea what to expect and help you to improve your score we provide you with a unique opportunity. For the next four weeks you can take the online workshop. In the workshop you will learn about the different assessment topics, take and review multiple short assessments and learn the best tips and tricks to tackle tests in the future. The E-assessment is available online from October 16th till November 16th.
HOW TO APPLY FOR A JOB BY YOUNGFINANCIALS
For 17 years now, we have been connecting national and international financial talent with positions within the top of the Dutch financial sector. We believe in the power of young talent and innovation. Young Financials ensures a great start to your career and gives you plenty of room to continue to develop. During the training we explain different aspects of how you can best present yourself professionally. Examples include various tips on how to make your LinkedIn profile complete, how to write your CV and in which order, and tips on how to tackle a job interview. ORIENTATION
1. COMPANY ROUNDS
During the company rounds you get the unique Opportunity to meet four different companies. You will get to know them through a presentation whereafter you will rotate between the different companies. Ask the company representatives all of your questions to get to know the companies a little better. Afterwards there will be a networking drink, to get in touch with the recruiters.
2. RUNNING LUNCH
Are you a bachelor student and looking for an extra challenge? Sign up for the Running Lunch! During this event you will meet two different companies who offer something you can do during or right after your bachelor studies. For example: an internship for your 3rd year, a working student program or a (side)job based on your interests and capacities. Chat about the possibilities with company representatives during lunch. With every course you switch between companies, this way you can see what company fits you best!
3. CAREER TALKS
Do you want to orientate yourself on different career possibilities and different companies? Then join the Career Talks to get in touch with fifteen companies and their recruiters in just one afternoon. After listening to a short presentation of each company, you can get in-depth with the recruiters of the company during a network drink. Explore the possibilities these companies have to offer!

1. COMPANY DINNER
This activity is a perfect opportunity to get in contact with recruiters during a luxurious dinner. During the dinner, you will get to know multiple recruiters or employees of various companies. After every course you will change tables and get to meet the next firm, ensuring you will get the chance to speak to all the recruiters thoroughly. This year we will host two dinners with three different companies. You get to ask the participating companies all your questions and get the opportunity to really kick-start your career.
2. INTERACTIVE CASE SOLVING
Have you always wanted to take on a challenging case that a company deals with? Then this is the activity you are looking for. During the case you get the chance to show the company your problem solving capabilities. Join us and develop your case cracking skills. In addition to this, you gain insights on the companies’ day-to-day business and get a feel for what it’s like to work there.
3. INHOUSE DAY
Are you curious about what a company looks like from the inside? During this on-site activity, you will take a look behind the scenes and discover some of the most impressive office headquarters in the Netherlands. Through visiting the companies you will get to experience the workfloor as if you’re already an employee. Through presentations, workshops, cases, tours, lunches, and drinks, you will get to know the culture of a company in a unique way and possibly meet your future colleagues. 4. INFORMAL RECRUITMENT
Our informal recruitment activities give you the perfect opportunity to meet the employees of a company in an informal setting. These activities enable you to interact with recruiters during a fun workshop or sporty activity. Combining work and entertainment takes the edge off during a sometimes potentially more tense experience. Join in on this unique way to familiarize yourself with a firm whilst having fun!

5. INDIVIDUAL MEETINGS
During the individual meetings you will meet a company representative. In these 15 minute meetings you get to elaborate on your interests, skills and motivation and see if they fit with specific vacancies the company has to offer. In addition, you get to ask a lot of questions and learn more about the company. A large advantage is that since these meetings are individual it really means all eyes are on you! It’s your time to shine! The individual meetings will be hosted in an intimate setting in one of Rotterdam’s finest restaurants.
6. FMCG CYCLE
Would you like to get to know two different companies in the FMCG sector? Then join this years FMCG Cycle. Get to know Unilever and Henkel during two case solvings, a lunch and a networking drink. Get the unique opportunity to see how the two companies operate compared to each other.
INTERNATIONAL CAREER EVENT
The International Career Event is a recruitment event that gives students a great opportunity to network and connect with highly reputable international partner companies. They will present themselves on November 8th during a job fair and will join speed interview sessions with students who strive for an international career.
Afterwards you are invited to have drinks with the recruiters and your fellow students. This event is mainly focused on (Dutch) students that want to pursue an international career and international students that want to pursue their career in the Netherlands. This recruitment event is a joint effort by RSM Career Centre and STAR Management Week.
PARTICIPATING COMPANIES:
TRACK GUIDELINES
The IBA and BA bachelor curriculum offers students the opportunity to pick one of the six tracks in their third year. To create the perfect fit between the academic program and the STAR Management Week, we have incorporated all six tracks in our activities.
1. ANALYTICAL DECISION-MAKERS
The focus of this track lies on operations, supply chain, data-analytics, and information management. The goal of this track is to teach students to make decisions based on data and modelling.
2. PERFORMANCE ANALYSTS
This track is centered around finance and accounting. It will teach students how to conduct financial and nonfinancial analyses and make decisions on investments.
3. BEHAVIOURAL EXPERTS
This track focuses on the various HR dimensions and marketing methods. Students will gain knowledge related to behavioral economics and the psychology behind human decision making.
4. GLOBAL THINKERS
This track concentrates on international business, and also focuses on societal issues such as sustainability. Students will learn how to conduct business in an international environment and how firms operate in a global social-institutional context.
5. BUSINESS DEVELOPERS
This track will guide students along the three stages of the development of companies, namely: innovation, entrepreneurship, and change. Students will gain knowledge about entrepreneurship, innovation, renewal, and change management in a business environment.
6. FINANCIAL STRATEGIST
This track presents students to the strategic financial management concerns that organizations face and how they connect to the financial managers’ and advisers’ working domain. These include issues with performance evaluation, incentive alignment, tax policies, funcing demands and limits, and risk management.
EXPECTATIONS FROM YOU
Every activity during the STAR Management Week has different guidelines. Some activities will be on-campus, while others will take place off-campus. Moreover, some activities will require your anonymous CV or motivation letter. When subscribing to different activities, keep these guidelines in mind.
HOW DOES THE CV-SELECTION PROCEDURE WORK?
First, you must upload your CV to your STAR Management Week account. Then, one of the Committee members will check your CV and accept or decline your CV, based on the anonymity of your CV and whether or not it contains the right information for the recruiters. You can upload your CV until Monday, 9th of October 2023, at 23:59 o’clock.
After your CV has been approved, you can register for all activities of the STAR Management Week. The registration deadline for our cv-selection events is on Tuesday, 10th of October 2032. After this, all registrations will be communicated to the participating companies. These companies have a week to choose the students they would like to see during the STAR Management Week (there are limited spots available for each event). The registration deadline for non cv-selection activities is on Friday, October 20th 2023.
On Sunday, the 22nd of October 2023, you get your personal schedule for the STAR Management Week 2023. If you get selected for multiple events at the same date and time, you must sign off for the events you will not be able to attend.

PENALTY POLICY
WHY DO WE HAVE A PENALTY POLICY?
It can happen that you unexpectedly have to cancel one of your activities. We want to ensure that you cancel in time, so we can give your spot to another student. If you unsubscribe before the deadline, you will not receive a fine and another student will fill your spot, a win-win situation for everyone.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
You can unsubscribe from activities on the website until two business days in advance, before 17:00. For example, if you cannot attend an activity on Tuesday, you have to unsubscribe the forgoing Friday before 17:00. If you unsubscribe later than 17:00 two working days in advance, you will be fined €15.00. If you do not show up for an activity that you were selected for without cancellation, you will be fined €25.00. This fine is for CV activities. For trainings and Company rounds you will receive a fine of €7.50 if you unsubscribe later than 17:00 two working days in advance and a fine of €15.00 if you do not show up.
WHERE DOES IT GO?
This year we partnered with Maas Cleanup and the proceedings of the penalty policy will go to the Maas Cleanup. The Maas Cleanup is a network of entrepreneurs that bring together volunteers and companies. The Maas Cleanup will use this money to organize more cleanup days.

WHY DO I HAVE TO UPLOAD AN ANONYMOUS CV?
To make the CV-selection process as fair and unbiased as possible, we ask you to upload an anonymous CV. Moreover, this allows us to guarantee that only the companies that have selected you receive your personal information. If your CV is not anonymous, or you have not allowed us to share your CV when signing up, this implies that you cannot be selected for CVactivities.
